Atha caturdaśamukhī rudrākṣa dhāraṇavidhiḥ (अथ चतुर्दशमुखी रुद्राक्ष धारणविधिः)

 

Source: Rudrākṣa dhāraṇa vidhi.

Purpose: To obtain all the four puruṣārthas: dharma (righteousness), artha (wealth), kāma (desires) and mokṣa (liberation) by wearing the fourteen-faced Rudrākṣa bead.

Initiation: Required.

  1. Prayogaḥ (प्रयोगः)

evaṃ dhyātvā mānasopacāraiḥ saṃpūjya kuryājjapasahasrakaṃ tadantaramābhimukhyasāmīpyaṃ ghaṭopari tāmrapātraṃ nidhāya tatra rudrākṣaṃ kṣiptvā paṅktiprāṇāyāyaṃ kṛtvā
paścāt vāme jalapātraṃ dhṛtvā jatra tale savyahastaṃ dhṛtvā dakṣiṇapāṇinā sahasrajapaṃ kuryāt

punastasyopari jalaṃ kṣipet rudrākṣaṃ dhārayet

evaṃ sarvatra vidhirjñayaḥ

एवं ध्यात्वा मानसोपचारैः संपूज्य कुर्याज्जपसहस्रकं तदन्तरमाभिमुख्यसामीप्यं घटोपरि ताम्रपात्रं निधाय तत्र रुद्राक्षं क्षिप्त्वा पङ्क्तिप्राणायायं कृत्वा ।

पश्चात् वामे जलपात्रं धृत्वा जत्र तले सव्यहस्तं धृत्वा दक्षिणपाणिना सहस्रजपं कुर्यात् ।

पुनस्तस्योपरि जलं क्षिपेत् रुद्राक्षं धारयेत् ।

एवं सर्वत्र विधिर्ज्ञयः ॥

 

[Meaning: After contemplating the dhyāna of the mantra in the mind, one must complete the associated mantra japa for a 1000 count. Next, place the associated rudrākṣa(s) relevant to the mantra, in a copper mug/jug/vessel on top of a copper plate preferably and place it in front of ourselves. Perform five rounds of Prāṇāyāma. Then place a water jug to the left. Using the right hand, perform another round of mantra japa for a 1000 count. Next, sprinkle water from the water jug upon the rudrākṣa(s) placed in front and then wear them. This same procedure should be repeated for all faceted rudrākṣas with their relevant mantras.]

 

  1. Viniyogaḥ (विनियोगः) –

मम अभीष्टसिद्ध्यर्थे रुद्राक्ष धारणार्थे जपे विनियोगः

 

Meaning: This prayer/mantra japa is to invoke Śrī Hanumān and perform His mantra japa to obtain His complete grace in the fulfillment of the four puruṣārthas: dharma (righteousness), artha (wealth), kāma (desires) and mokṣa (liberation) and to energize and activate the fourteen-faced Rudrākṣa bead for wearing purposes.

The sage (ṛṣiḥ) is ŚRāmacandra. The meter (chandas) for the mantra is Jagatī and the deity(devatā) is Śrī Hanumān. The seed (bīja) mantra is aum̐, the power (śakti) of the mantra rests with the phrase hsphrem̐.

Touch the feet with the right ring finger and thumb joined together.

Run both the palms all over the body.

ॐ ह्स्ख्फ्रेँ करतलकर पृष्ठाभ्यां फट् ।

Open both the palms; run the opened palms of the right hand on the front and back sides of the left palm and repeat the same for the other palm.

Thus ends the six-part Karāṅga nyāsa.

ख्फ्रेँ कवचाय हुँ ।

Cross both the hands and run the fully opened palms from shoulders to finger tips.

om̐ hsrau netratrayāya vauṣaṭ ।

ह्स्रौँ नेत्रत्रयाय वौषट् ।

Touch the eyes with the right index and ring fingers, with the middle finger touching the ājñā cakra.

om̐ hskhphrem̐ astrāya phaṭ

ॐ ह्स्ख्फ्रेँ अस्त्राय फट्

Open up the left palm and strike it three times with index and middle fingers of the right hand.

iti ṣaḍāṅga nyāsaḥ ॥

इति षडाङ्ग न्यासः ॥

Thus ends the six-part Ṣaḍāṅga nyāsa.

 

bhūr-bhuva-ssuvarom-iti digbandhaḥ

भूर्भुवस्सुवरोम् इति दिग्बन्धः

Meaning: May the directions be charmed and bound, to prevent any external influences of the triads – the Earth, atmosphere and the heavens.

  1. Dhyānam (ध्यानम् )

udyanmārtaṇḍa koṭiprakaṭaruciyutaṃ cāruvīrāsanasthaṃ mauñjī-yajñopavītābharaṇa-ruci-śikhā-śobhitaṃ kuṇḍalābhyām

bhaktānāmiṣṭadānapravaṇamanudinaṃ vedanādapramodaṃ dhyāyeddevaṃ vidheyaṃ plavagakulapatiṃ goṣpadībhūtavārddhim

उद्यन्मार्तण्ड कोटिप्रकटरुचियुतं चारुवीरासनस्थं मौञ्जी-यज्ञोपवीताभरण-रुचि-शिखा-शोभितं कुण्डलाभ्याम्

भक्तानामिष्टदानप्रवणमनुदिनं वेदनादप्रमोदं ध्यायेद्देवं विधेयं प्लवगकुलपतिं गोष्पदीभूतवार्द्धिम्

 

Meaning: Salutations to Lord Hanuman, who appears crimson red like the rising run and has the radiance of zillions of suns. He is to be meditated as kneeling on one knee, wearing a sacred thread made of the muñja long grass and bedecked with an ornamental crown, bracelets and earrings. He is always ready to fulfill all the wishes of His sincere devotees at all times and is never failing! He is to be adored and meditated as the Lord of all Ape-like humanoids, capable of crossing great oceans or barriers across any realm with a single leap, giving an appearance of jumping over small puddles and hurdles!

यँ वायव्यात्मने धूपम् कल्पयामि नमः

 

Hold the lower tip of the bottom phalange of the index fingers of both hands with the upper tip of the thumbs, with the back of the hand facing us.

ram̐ vahniyātmane dīpam kalpayāmi namaḥ

रँ वह्नियात्मने दीपम् कल्पयामि नमः ।

Hold the lower tip of the bottom phalange of the middle fingers of both hands with the upper tip of the thumbs, with the back of the hand facing us.

vam̐ amṛtātmane naivedyam kalpayāmi namaḥ

वँ अमृतात्मने नैवेद्यम् कल्पयामि नमः ।

Hold the lower tip of the bottom phalange of the ring fingers of both hands with the upper tip of the thumbs, with the back of the hand facing us.

sa sarvātmane tāmbūlādi sarvopacārān kalpayāmi namaḥ

सँ सर्वात्मने ताम्बूलादि सर्वोपचारान् कल्पयामि नमः ।

Hold the fingers of each palm in a folded manner with the tips of the fingers of both hands touching each other and the thumbs facing the heart, in a Namaste position.

  1. Mantraḥ (मन्त्रः)

om̐ aum̐ hsphrem̐ khphrem̐ hsraum̐ hskhphre

ॐ औँ ह्स्फ्रेँ ख्फ्रेँ ह्स्रौँ ह्स्ख्फ्रेँ

 

Meaning: This is a six syllabled mantra with each syllable representing a bīja (seed) mantra. The bīja mantras are described below. –

 

  1. The bīja (seed) mantra om̐ () consists of – ‘au’ => healing and deep cleansing, m̐’ => removes misery. Ushers in auspiciousness.
  2. The Auṣadhātmikā devi bīja (seed) mantra aum̐ (औँ) represents the curative power of medicine and promotes healing.
  3. The bīja hsphrem̐ (ह्स्फ्रेँ) is a variation of the Ānanda bhairava bīja representing the following. The letter 'h' represents Vyomavaktra or Śiva signifying pure consciousness and the blissful static state of super-consiousness, 's' for Dhūmradhvaja or Śakti signifying the dynamic super-consciousness and action, 'ph' for Pralayāgni representing the fire of dissolution of all matter, 'r' for Kṣatajārūḍha signifying sentient beings with blood and flesh, 'e' for Ūrdhvakeśī signifying alertness and the pinnacle of fulfillment and awareness - Parātattva state of Paramaśiva, Nāda for Parā and the Vindu (m̐) for Duḥkhaharaṇa, meaning removal of all misery. Overall, this Ānanda bhairavī bīja, also called Khecarī bīja, represents the attainment of liberation for all sentient beings, rising above all the material and physical needs, dissolving them into the spiritual pursuits and ascending over mind and matter into the states of pure consciousness.
  4. The bīja khphrem̐ (ख्फ्रेँ) is the Śakti-khecarī bīja and is also associated with the Yogini Ḍākinī, Siddhilakṣmī and Kālasaṅkarṣinī. The letter 'kh' is for vāraṇa signifying resistance, invincibility and prevention. It is also the Sadāśiva tattva, which is a combination of Śiva and Śakti manifesting in all the five natural elements constituting matter, 'ph' for pralayāgni representing the fire of dissolution of all matter, 'r' for Kṣatajārūḍha signifying sentient beings with blood and flesh, 'e' for Ūrdhvakeśī signifying alertness and the pinnacle of fulfillment and awareness - parātattva state of Paramaśiva, nāda for parā and the vindu (m̐) for Duḥkhaharaṇa, meaning removal of all misery. Overall, the bīja “khphrem̐” ensures the complete annihilation of all types of misery and paves the pathway towards tremendous success in both the material and spiritual realms. The gates to spiritual liberation are opened with this bīja.
  5. The bīja hsraum̐ (ह्स्रौँ) is the Vāgbhāva bīja of the Tripura Bhairavi Mantra and presents transformational knowledge. It consists of h(śiva) + s(candra) + r(repha, vahni) + au (sthita) + m̐ (nada-vindu). The letter ‘h’ represents Brahman/Śiva signifying auspiciousness, The bīja “srepresents the Divine Mother Śakti, who is the expansion, pulse or the vibration of the super-consciousness and the cause of the entire Creation, it’s Preservation and Destruction/Transformation and it’s repeat cycle,r’ meaning fire and drive within us, ‘au’ meaning Sthita or stationary status and energy and the source of all power that helps us to succeed in all endeavors and ultimately ascend, ‘’ is for removal of all miseries and facilitation of self-realization and ultimate liberation.
  6. The bīja hskhphrem̐ (ह्स्ख्फ्रेँ) is a variation of the Ānanda bhairava bīja representing the following. 12. Samarpaṇam (समर्पणम्) –

guhyādi guhya goptvātvam gṛhaṇāsmat kṛtaṃ japaṃ
siddhirbhavatu me deva tvat prasadān mayī sthirā

गुह्यादि गुह्य गोप्त्वात्वम् गृहणास्मत् कृतं जपं ।

सिद्धिर्भवतु मे देव त्वत् प्रसदान् मयी स्थिरा

 

Meaning: May these secret offerings of mantra japa offered at my dwelling, yield the expected benefits and remain with us at all times by your benevolent grace O Lord!
