Atha viṃśatimukhī rudrākṣa dhāraṇavidhiḥ (अथ विंशतिमुखी रुद्राक्ष धारणविधिः)

Purpose: To obtain all the four puruṣārthas: dharma (righteousness), artha (wealth), kāma (desires) and mokṣa (liberation) by wearing the twenty-faced Rudrākṣa bead.

Initiation: Required.

Special Note: The benefits of this Rudrākṣa are to be considered the same as that of the eight-faced Rudrākṣa.

1. Prayogaḥ (प्रयोगः)

evaṃ dhyātvā mānasopacāraiḥ saṃpūjya kuryājjapasahasrakaṃ tadantaramābhimukhyasāmīpyaṃ ghaṭopari tāmrapātraṃ nidhāya tatra rudrākṣaṃ kṣiptvā paṅktiprāṇāyāyaṃ kṛtvā
paścāt vāme jalapātraṃ dhṛtvā jatra tale savyahastaṃ dhṛtvā dakṣiṇapāṇinā sahasrajapaṃ kuryāt

punastasyopari jalaṃ kṣipet rudrākṣaṃ dhārayet

evaṃ sarvatra vidhirjñayaḥ

एवं ध्यात्वा मानसोपचारैः संपूज्य कुर्याज्जपसहस्रकं तदन्तरमाभिमुख्यसामीप्यं घटोपरि ताम्रपात्रं निधाय तत्र रुद्राक्षं क्षिप्त्वा पङ्क्तिप्राणायायं कृत्वा ।

पश्चात् वामे जलपात्रं धृत्वा जत्र तले सव्यहस्तं धृत्वा दक्षिणपाणिना सहस्रजपं कुर्यात् ।

पुनस्तस्योपरि जलं क्षिपेत् रुद्राक्षं धारयेत् ।

एवं सर्वत्र विधिर्ज्ञयः ॥

Meaning: After contemplating the dhyāna of the mantra in the mind, one must complete the associated mantra japa for a 1000 count. Next, place the associated rudrākṣa(s) relevant to the mantra, in a copper mug/jug/vessel on top of a copper plate preferably and place it in front of ourselves. Perform five rounds of Prāṇāyāma. Then place a water jug to the left. Using the right hand, perform another round of mantra japa for a 1000 count. Next, sprinkle water from the water jug upon the rudrākṣa(s) placed in front and then wear them. This same procedure should be repeated for all faceted rudrākṣas with their relevant mantras.

2. Viniyogaḥ (विनियोगः) -

अस्य श्री गणेश मन्त्रस्य ।

भार्गव ऋषिः ।

अनुष्टुप् छन्दः ।

विनायको देवता ।

श्रीँ बीजं ।

अँ शक्तिः ।

मम चतुर्वर्गसिद्ध्यर्थे रुद्राक्ष धारणार्थे जपे विनियोगः ॥

Meaning: This prayer/mantra japa is to invoke Śrī Gaṇeśa and perform His mantra japa to obtain His complete grace in the fulfillment of the four puruṣārthas: dharma (righteousness), artha (wealth), kāma (desires) and mokṣa (liberation) and to energize and activate the eight-faced Rudrākṣa bead for wearing purposes.

The sage (ṛṣiḥ) is ŚBhārgava. The meter (chandas) for the mantra is Anuṣṭup and the deity(devatā) is Śrī Gaṇeśa/Vināyaka. The seed (bīja) mantra is śrīm̐, the power (śakti) of the mantra rests with the mantra am̐.

3. Ṛṣyādi nyāsa ( ऋष्यादि न्यास ) -

श्रीँ बीजाय नमः गुह्ये ।

 

Touch the genitalia with the right ring finger and thumb joined together.

Touch the feet with the right ring finger and thumb joined together.

mama caturvarga siddhyarthe rudrākṣa dhāraṇārthe viniyogāya namaḥ sarvāṅge ॥

मम चतुर्वर्गसिद्ध्यर्थे रुद्राक्ष धारणार्थे विनियोगाय नमः सर्वाङ्गे

Run both the palms all over the body.

ॐ ऐँ श्रीँ करतलकर पृष्ठाभ्यां फट् ।

Open both the palms; run the opened palms of the right hand on the front and back sides of the left palm and repeat the same for the other palm.

Thus ends the six-part Karāṅga nyāsa.

5. Ṣaḍāṅga nyāsaḥ (षडाङ्गन्यासः) -

Open the right thumb and touch the back of the head. This is the point where the tuft of hair, is kept.

Cross both the hands and run the fully opened palms from shoulders to finger tips.

om̐ a śrīm̐ netratrayāya vauṣaṭ ।

ॐ अँ श्रीँ नेत्रत्रयाय वौषट् ।

Touch the eyes with the right index and ring fingers, with the middle finger touching the ājñā cakra.

om̐ aim̐ śrīm̐ astrāya phaṭ

ॐ ऐँ श्रीँ अस्त्राय फट्

Open up the left palm and strike it three times with index and middle fingers of the right hand.

iti ṣaḍāṅga nyāsaḥ ॥

इति षडाङ्ग न्यासः ॥

Thus ends the six-part Ṣaḍāṅga nyāsa.

bhūr-bhuva-ssuvarom-iti digbandhaḥ

भूर्भुवस्सुवरोम् इति दिग्बन्धः

Meaning: May the directions be charmed and bound, to prevent any external influences of the triads – the Earth, atmosphere and the heavens.

6. Dhyānam (ध्यानम् ) -

haratu kulagaṇeśo vighnasaṅghānaśeṣān nayatu sakalasampatpūrṇatāṃ sādhakānāṃ
pibatu vaṭukanāthaḥ śoṇitaṃ nindakānāṃ diśatu sakalakāmān kaulikānāṃ gaṇeśaḥ

हरतु कुलगणेशो विघ्नसङ्घानशेषान् नयतु सकलसम्पत्पूर्णतां साधकानां

पिबतु वटुकनाथः शोणितं निन्दकानां दिशतु सकलकामान् कौलिकानां गणेशः

Meaning: Salutations to Lord Gaṇeśa, scion of Lord Hara (Śiva/Rudra), One who lays waste to all types of obstacles and helps us overcome any and all types of difficulties and accomplish all tasks! Praise be to the One who bestows all types of wealth, prosperity and auspiciousness to all His sincere sādhakas! Salutations to the spiritually intoxicated and blood guzzling Lord Vaṭuka, who grants unassailable protection from all directions!

यँ वायव्यात्मने धूपम् कल्पयामि नमः

 

Hold the lower tip of the bottom phalange of the index fingers of both hands with the upper tip of the thumbs, with the back of the hand facing us.

ram̐ vahniyātmane dīpam kalpayāmi namaḥ

रँ वह्नियात्मने दीपम् कल्पयामि नमः ।

Hold the lower tip of the bottom phalange of the middle fingers of both hands with the upper tip of the thumbs, with the back of the hand facing us.

vam̐ amṛtātmane naivedyam kalpayāmi namaḥ

वँ अमृतात्मने नैवेद्यम् कल्पयामि नमः ।

Hold the lower tip of the bottom phalange of the ring fingers of both hands with the upper tip of the thumbs, with the back of the hand facing us.

sam̐ sarvātmane tāmbūlādi sarvopacārān kalpayāmi namaḥ

सँ सर्वात्मने ताम्बूलादि सर्वोपचारान् कल्पयामि नमः ।

Hold the fingers of each palm in a folded manner with the tips of the fingers of both hands touching each other and the thumbs facing the heart, in a Namaste position.

8. Mantraḥ (मन्त्रः) -

om̐ jñām̐ jñīm̐ lam̐ am̐ aim̐ śrīm̐

ज्ञाँ ज्ञीँ लँ अँ ऐँ श्रीँ ।

Meaning: This is a seven syllabled mantra with each syllable representing a bīja (seed) mantra. The bīja mantras are described below. –

  1. The bīja (seed) mantra om̐ () consists of – ‘au’ => healing and deep cleansing, m̐’ => removes misery. Ushers in auspiciousness.
  2. The bīja (seed) mantra ām̐ (ज्ञाँ ) consists of - the letter jña’ representing trāṇātma, meaning protection of the soul-ātma, ‘ā’ representing massive power of attraction, expansion and assimilation, ‘’ is for removal of all miseries and facilitation of self-realization and ultimate liberation. Overall, the bīja provides protection from all material burdens and karmas and a significant expansion of our consciousness and ultimately helps in overcoming all the obstacles to usher in auspiciousness and fulfillment.
  3. The bīja (seed) mantra jñīm̐ (ज्ञीँ) consists of – the letter ‘jña’ representing trāṇātma, meaning protection of the soul-ātma, ‘ī’ meaning energy and the source of all power that helps us ascend, ‘’ is for removal of all miseries and facilitation of self-realization and ultimate liberation.
  4. The Lamboṣṭhī Devi Mātṛkā, Pṛthvi and Vāyu bīja (seed) mantra lam̐ (लँ) represents great powers of attraction and mesmerism. It also leads us to the non-dual state of knowing and experiencing the super-consciousness within.
  5. The Amṛtā devi bīja (seed) mantra am̐ (अँ) represents Creation and symbolizes the spiritual nectar that precedes the complete awakening of the Kuṇḍalini. She is also the source of all other energies. She promotes detachment and progress towards spiritual emancipation.
  6. The Aiśvarya mātṛkā and Sarasvatī bīja aim̐ (ऐँ), represents and bestows immense knowledge, mastery in arts and amazing creativity.
  7. The bīja (seed) mantra śrīm̐ (श्रीँ) consists of – śa’ indicates Mahālakṣmī, repha ‘ra’ indicates dhana or wealth, ‘ī’ indicates tuṣṭi or satisfaction, m̐’ denotes nāda indicating parā or śakti and vindu indicates duḥkhahara or removal of all miseries.

9. Ṣaḍāṅga nyāsaḥ (षडाङ्गन्यासः) -

12. Samarpaṇam (समर्पणम्) –

guhyādi guhya goptvātvam gṛhaṇāsmat kṛtaṃ japaṃ
siddhirbhavatu me deva tvat prasadān mayī sthirā

गुह्यादि गुह्य गोप्त्वात्वम् गृहणास्मत् कृतं जपं ।

सिद्धिर्भवतु मे देव त्वत् प्रसदान् मयी स्थिरा

Meaning: May these secret offerings of mantra japa offered at my dwelling, yield the expected benefits and remain with us at all times by your benevolent grace O Lord!
