atha mātaṅgī trailokya maṅgala kavacam ( अथ मातङ्गी त्रैलोक्य मङ्गल कवचम् )
Prologue :- Śrī Mātaṅgī Trailokya Maṅgala Kavacam (armor) is for obtaining success in all undertakings in any/all the three realms or triads. Nothing is impossible for the devotee who worships Her. She is also very mysterious in Her manifestation as one of the ten wisdom goddesses called the Daśa-mahā-vidyā-s and is associated with all the supernatural magical powers called siddhis. One may even obtain these powers as per this kavacam and is therefore considered to be very secretive and should not be revealed to one and all. There are no restrictions in reciting this kavacam and no strict procedures to follow during the recitation period either. Those who are attracted strongly towards the Divine Mother Śrī Mātaṅgī and also initiated into any of Her mantras, may certainly recite and gain the benefits of this kavacam. She is Ucchiṣṭa, meaning “ritually impure” and therefore has very few rituals associated with Her. There are no pre-requisites or qualifications required, in order to seek Her grace. All that She requires from the devotee is pure devotion and nothing else!
Śrī Devyuvāca (श्री देव्युवाच) :-
sādhusādhu mahādeva kathayasva sureśvara ।
mātaṅgī kavacaṃ divyaṃ sarva siddhi karaṃ nṛnām ॥ 1 ॥
The Divine Mother Śaktī spoke - Oh Lord of the entire Creation, ardently worshipped by the celestials and all beings. Oh most virtuous one, can you please reveal all the secrets of the sacred Śrī Mātaṅgī Kavacam that accomplishes all tasks, bestows magical powers called siddhi-s and rings in auspiciousness all around?
Śrī Īśvara Uvāca (श्री ईश्वर उवाच) :-
śṛṇu devī pravakṣyāmi mātaṅgī kavacaṃ śubhaṃ ।
gopanīyaṃ mahādevī maunī jāpaṃ samācaret ॥ 2 ॥
Lord Śiva spoke – Oh my dear Devi, I shall narrate the auspicious and highly sacred Śrī Mātaṅgī Kavacam. Please listen very attentively oh Mahādevī. This hymn is considered very secretive and should not be easily revealed to one and all and also keep in mind, this should be recited mentally.
viniyogaḥ (विनियोगः) :-
oṃ asya śrīmātaṅgī kavacasya ।
śrīdakṣiṇāmūrtiḥ ṛṣiḥ ।

Meaning:- I pray to the Divine Mother Goddess Śrī Mātaṅgī Devī through this hymn, encased as a great Kavaca (armor) mantra. The sage (rishi) who has revealed this mantra is Śrī Dakṣiṇāmūrti. The meter (chandas) for the mantra is Virāṭ. The deity is Śrī Mātaṅgī. May the mantra called the Śrī Mātaṅgī Kavacam, fulfill all four coveted puruṣārthas (desires) namely, dharma (justice, law), artha (material desires), kāma (love, desires, wishes) and mokṣa (liberation from the cycle of life and death).

phalaśruti (फलश्रुति) :-
(Benefits from reciting the kavacam)
iti te kathitaṃ devi guhyād guhyataram param ।
trailokya maṅgalaṃ nāma kavacaṃ deva durlabham ॥ 17 ॥
Oh dear Devi, the hymn that I have narrated, is very secretive and is amongst the greatest secrets concealed and should not be revealed to one and all. This kavacam (shield of armor) is called as “Trailokya Maṅgala Kavacam” and is also very hard to obtain even by the celestials. This hymn will help one achieve success in all undertakings on all the three realms.
ya idaṃ prapaṭhen-nityaṃ jāyate sampadālayam ।
paramaiśvaryam-atulaṃ prāpnuyānnātra saṃśayaḥ ॥ 18 ॥
One who recites this hymn on a daily or regular basis will surely obtain all the wealth that he/she desires and much more, be it material or spiritual or both. One will surely obtain the greatest possible spiritual elevation and be one with Lord Śivā Himself. The individual consciousness will merge with the universal super-consciousness. Do not have any doubts over it. This is the plain and simple Truth!

After paying due respects and prayers to one’s guru, one should recite the kavacam in a proper manner. Doing so, in due course of time, one will obtain mastery over poetry and also gain the vāk siddhi, which is a unique power that will manifest anything that one speaks about. Also, one will surely gain sufficient wealth.

One will never lose companionship with his/her partner and there shall be harmony in the relationship. The trinity of Lord Brahmā (Creator), Lord Viṣṇu (Sustainer) and Lord Rudra (Destroyer), as well as all the celestial gods called Surās.

The great devouring extra-dimensional Brahma Rākṣasas, goblin like Vetālās, the nine heavenly planetary grahās, the mischievous ghostly bhūtas and piśācās will look upon the devotees (sādhaka-s) with jealously, oh dear Devi! Such is the power of this hymn!
kavacaṃ dhārayed-dyastu sarva-siddhiṃ labhed dhruvam ।

One who wears and/or recites the kavacam regularly will gain all the magical powers called siddhi-s and sufficient wealth. One will be able to make even the kings and people of high power and status in the society, government and large organizations, submit to his/her will as and when one employs any of the six tantric acts called ṣaṭkarmas. The ṣaṭkarmas are śānti (peace, settlement and compromise), vaśya (attraction and submission), stambhana (halting and stopping the rivals before they make their moves), vidveṣa (contempt and hatred), uccāṭana (expulsion, removal from a place, overthrow), māraṇa (ruin, inflict death, defeat etc.).
siddho bhavati sarvatra kim-anyair-bahu bhāṣitaiḥ ।
idaṃ kavacam-ajñātvā mātaṅgī yo bhajen-naraḥ ॥ 23 ॥
Why speak more oh Devi? One will achieve anything that is desired and much more, from the recitation of this kavacam! It is to be noted that one who does not recite this kavacam, will not gain any merit from the mantra japa (recitation) of Śrī Mātaṅgī mantras.
alpāyur-nirddhano mūrkhe bhavatyeva na saṃśayaḥ ।
gurau bhaktiḥ sadā kāryā kavace ca dṛḍhā matiḥ ॥ 24 ॥
Such an unfortunate person who does not recite this hymn and goes ahead with just the mantra japa, will lose life longevity and wealth. One must have full and firm faith as well as sincere devotion to one’s guru and by doing so, will achieve success in all undertakings.
tasmai mātaṅginī devī sarva-siddhiṃ prayacchati ॥ 25 ॥
May the Divine Mother Śrī Mātaṅgī bestow complete success, all magical siddhi-s, wealth, auspiciousness and prosperity to us all!
॥ iti nandyāvarte uttarakhaṇḍe tvarita phaladāyinī mātaṅginī kavacaṃ samāptam ॥
(Thus ends the quick yielding Śrī Mātaṅgī Trailokya Maṅgala Kavacam, derived from the Nandyāvarta Tantram, Uttarakhaṇḍa section.)

Sir, Thanks for publishing this spiritual treasure. Sir I have one query how is this kavacham different from matangi Sumukhi Kavacham. Is the phalasruthi of both the kavach same or different. Both of them talk about material and spiritual benefits however I feel that Sumukhi Kavacham bestows more towards family protection and progeny. Also Sumukhi and matangi are one or are they different please clarify sir

Those initiated directly into Mātaṅgī Devi mantra mentioned in this kavacam, may recite this hymn. Those initiated into the Sumukhi and other variations of Mātaṅgī Devi, may recite the Sumukhi kavacam. There is absolutely no harm in reciting both for initiates of Mātaṅgī Devi mantras or for those having deep faith in the Divine Mother. As stated in the verse 23, nothing is impossible or out of reach for the devotee of this kavacam. All desires will be fulfilled in due course of time, if one has intense faith and dedicates oneself to Her worship.

Namaste Raviji or Krishnaji, I want to know if I can add the atma-bija to this Matangi Kavacham. I would really like to receive initiation in this mantra. Will it be possible? Who can I talk to about this? I'm in Argentina. I guess there's no Sri Vidya lineage here. Thank you very much for your guidance. Harih Om Tat Sat

You may recite the atma-bīja that was given to you by your guru and then proceed with this kavacam. You may approach your guru to obtain the initiation for Mātaṅgī Devi and then recite this kavacam. Please visit the 'Mantra Initiations' page for more information on initiations and you may choose any one in the list for a remote initiation, if you are unable to obtain this mantra from your guru.

Namaskaram Krishna, Thank you! Let me see if I understood this. Can I add the atma-bija in this way? I don't have a formal guru or a diksha guru. Raviji gave me the atma-bija. Can I use it in this form anyway? Be blessed

Do not add the ātma-bīja to this mantra. You may simply recite it 21 times, as an independent mantra by itself, before you begin this Mātaṅgī Devi mantra. Please note that this mantra should be recited with a proper initiation and also with the accompanying nyāsa-s.

Results are never guaranteed, even when properly initiated. What we have provided is a simple translation that we feel is accurate. It is very much possible that the translation could be wrong. I am not an expert in Sanskrit and am generally prone to errors. As always, please follow the guidance of your guru and not an online publication or a book. Tantra sādhana should never be performed without a proper initiation from a guru. This is my humble suggestion.
