śrī pratyaṅgirā ātmarakṣaṇā mantra: (आत्मरक्षणा श्री प्रत्यङ्गिरा मन्त्र:) :-

1. Viniyogaḥ (विनियोगः) :-

asya śrī pratyaṅgirā mahā mantrasya

mahā bhairava ṛṣiḥ

anuṣṭup chandaḥ

śrī pratyaṅgirā devatā

em̐ bījaṃ

hrīm̐ śakti:

svāhā kīlakaṃ

sarva kāmya siddhyarthaṃ

mama śarīra rakṣaṇārthaṃ

mama sarva śatrunāśanārthaṃ jape viniyogaḥ

अस्य श्री प्रत्यङ्गिरा महा मन्त्रस्य

महा भैरव ऋषिः।

अनुष्टुप् छन्दः

श्री प्रत्यङ्गिरा देवता

एँ बीजं

ह्रीँ शक्ति:

स्वाहा कीलकं

सर्व काम्य सिद्ध्यर्थं

मम शरीर रक्षणार्थं

मम सर्व शत्रुनाशनार्थं जपे विनियोगः

Meaning:- This prayer/mantra japa is to invoke Śrī Pratyaṅgirā and perform Her mantra japa to obtain Her complete grace in all aspects, and especially for removal of all enmity and negativity afflicting us. The sage (ṛṣiḥ) is Mahā Bhairava, the meter (chandas) for the mantra is Anuṣṭup and the deity is Śrī Pratyaṅgirā, the seed (bījaṃ) is em̐, the power or śakti is hrīm̐. The secret to unlock the mantra or kīlakaṃ is svāhā.

 

2.laghunyāsa śarīranyāsadi kramaḥ (लघुन्यास शरीरन्यासदि क्रमः) :-

Open index, middle and ring fingers of the right hand and place them on the heart chakra.

4

em̐ bījāyai namaḥ guhye

एँ बीजायै नमः गुह्ये

Touch the private parts area with the ring, middle and thumb fingers of the right hand joined together at the top.

5

hrīm̐ śaktaye namaḥ pādayoḥ

ह्रीँ शक्तये नमः पादयोः

Touch the legs with the ring, middle and thumb fingers of the right hand joined together at the top.

6

svāhā kīlakāyai namaḥ nābhau

स्वाहा कीलकायै नमः नाभौ

Touch the navel with the ring, middle and thumb fingers of the right hand joined together at the top.

7

mama śrī dharmārtha kāma mokṣārthe jape viniyōgaḥ

sarvāṅge

मम श्री धर्मार्थ काम मोक्षार्थे जपे विनिय्ōगः सर्वाङ्गे

Run the fingers of both hands from the head to the toe on the sides of the body.

8

aim̐ namaḥ nābhyādi pādāntaṃ

ऐँ नमः नाभ्यादि पादान्तं

Run the fingers of both hands from the navel to the legs.

9

hrīm̐ namaḥ kaṇṭhādi nābhyāntaṃ

ह्रीँ नमः कण्ठादि नाभ्यान्तं

Run the fingers of both hands from the throat to the navel.

10

śrīm̐ namaḥ mūrdhādi kaṇṭhāntaṃ

श्रीँ नमः मूर्धादि कण्ठान्तं

Run the fingers of both hands from the face to the throat.

11

aim̐ namaḥ vāma pāṇītale

ऐँ नमः वाम पाणीतले

Run the right fingers on the left hand palm.

12

hrīm̐ namaḥ dakṣapāṇi tale

ह्रीँ नमः दक्षपाणि तले

Run the left fingers on the right hand palm.

13

śrīm̐ nama: ubhayapāṇītalau (ubhayoḥ)

श्रीँ नम: उभयपाणीतलौ (उभयोः)

Run the opposite side fingers on the back side of each palm.

 

3. karanyāsaḥ (करन्यासः) :-

mama rakṣa rakṣa mama śatrūn bhakṣa bhakṣa kaniṣṭhikābhyāṃ namaḥ

मम रक्ष रक्ष मम शत्रून् भक्ष भक्ष कनिष्ठिकाभ्यां नमः

Use both the thumbs on the little fingers.

om̐ svāhā karatalakarapṛṣṭhābhyāṃ namaḥ

ॐ स्वाहा करतलकरपृष्ठाभ्यां नमः

Open both the palms; run the opened palms of the right hand on the front and back sides of the left palm and repeat the same for the other palm.

Cross both the hands and run the fully opened palms from shoulders to finger tips.

मम रक्ष रक्ष मम शत्रून् भक्ष भक्ष

नेत्रत्रयाय वौषट्

Touch the eyes with the right index and ring fingers, with the middle finger touching the ājña cakra.

ॐ स्वाहा अस्त्राय फट्

Open up the left palm and strike it three times with index and middle fingers of the right hand.

iti ṣaḍaṅga nyāsaḥ

इति षडङ्ग न्यासः

 

bhūr-bhuva-ssuvarom-iti digbandhaḥ ॥

भूर्भुवस्सुवरोमिति दिग्बन्धः॥

 

5. dhyānaṃ (ध्यानं) :-

āśāmbarā mukta kacā ghanacchavirdhyeyā

sacarmāsi karāhi bhūṣaṇā ।

daṃṣṭrogra vaktrā grasitāhitātvayā

pratyaṅgirā śaṅkara tejaseritā ॥

आशाम्बरा मुक्त कचा घनच्छविर्ध्येया

सचर्मासि कराहि भूषणा ।

दंष्ट्रोग्र वक्त्रा ग्रसिताहितात्वया

प्रत्यङ्गिरा शङ्कर तेजसेरिता ॥

Meaning:-  I meditate upon on the Divine Mother Śrī Pratyaṅgirā, dark as the night sky with Her hair loosened and wavy. She is clothed by the vast deep space and is enormous. She holds a sword and a shield in Her hands and is decorated with ornaments around Her arms. She has enormous diamond like teeth and a very wide gaping mouth. She takes in all the negative and inimical forces and frees us from all karmas impacting our progress. Glory be to the Divine Mother, Who shines with the spiritual energy of Lord Śaṅkara/Śiva.

 

6. Pañcapūjā (पञ्चपूजा) :-

yam̐ - vāyvātmikāyai dhūpamāghrāpayāmi

 

यँ - वाय्वात्मिकायै धूपमाघ्रापयामि

 

Hold the lower tip of the bottom phalange of the index fingers of both hands with the upper tip of the thumbs, with the back of the hand facing us.

ram̐ - agnyātmikāyai dīpaṁ darśayāmi

 

रँ - अग्न्यात्मिकायै दीपं दर्शयामि

 

Hold the lower tip of the bottom phalange of the middle fingers of both hands with the upper tip of the thumbs, with the back of the hand facing us.

vam̐ - amṛtātmikāyai amṛtaṁ mahānaivedyaṁ nivedayāmi

 

वँ - अमृतात्मिकायै अमृतं महानैवेद्यं निवेदयामि

 

Hold the lower tip of the bottom phalange of the ring fingers of both hands with the upper tip of the thumbs, with the back of the hand facing us.

sam̐ - sarvātmikāyai sarvopacāra pūjām samarpayāmi

 

सँ - सर्वात्मिकायै सर्वोपचार पूजाम् समर्पयामि

 

Hold the fingers of each palm in a folded manner with the tips of each fingers of both hands touching each other and the thumbs facing the heart, in a Namaste position.

 

7. japamālā mantraṃ (जपमाला मन्त्रं) :-

Recite the below mantra once, to pray to the japa māla and invoke the blessings for a fruitful japa.

oṃ māṃ māle mahāmāye sarvamantra svarūpiṇi।
caturvarga stvayinyasta stasmānye siddhidā bhava॥

ॐ मां माले महामाये सर्वमन्त्र स्वरूपिणि।
चतुर्वर्ग स्त्वयिन्यस्त स्तस्मान्ये सिद्धिदा भव॥

 

8. Guru Mantra (गुरु मन्त्र):-  Recite the following guru mantra once, to seek the blessings of all gurus and the Guru.

oṃ hrīṃ siddhaguro prasīda hrīṃ oṃ

ॐ ह्रीं सिद्धगुरो प्रसीद ह्रीं ॐ

ॐ ऐँ ह्रीँ श्रीँ प्रत्यङ्गिरे

मम शत्रून् भक्ष भक्ष

ॐ स्वाहा ॥

Meaning:- The bīja (seed mantra) om̐ represents auspiciousness and is the śabda brahman or the Superconsciousness manifested as sound. The vāgbhāva bīja (seed mantra) aim̐, represents all knowledge, spiritual and material. The māyā bīja (seed mantra) hrīm̐ represents manifestation of everything as the power of Creation, sustenance as the power of Preservation and transformation as the power of Destruction. It is also related to concentration, focus, energy, drive, self-esteem, high power and is the main śakti mantra. The Lakṣmī bīja (seed mantra) śrīm̐, represents abundance, wealth, well-being and prosperity.

This mantra is a prayer to the Goddess Śrī Pratyaṅgirā, asking Her to come to our rescue and remove all negative energies and inimical forces acting upon us and also to free us from all bad karma and help with our well-being.

13. Samarpaṇam (समर्पणम्):-  Take water in uttaraṇi[CM1] and by reciting the following śloka, offer the water to the earth.

guhyātiguhyagoptrī tvaṁ gṛhāṇāsmat-kṛtaṁ japam।
siddhirbhavatu me devi tvatprasādānmayi sthirā ॥

गुह्यातिगुह्यगोप्त्री त्वं गृहाणास्मात्कृतं जपम्।
सिद्धिर्भवतु मे देवि त्वत्प्रसादान्मयि स्तिरा॥

 

14.japānaṃtaraṃ mālāmantraṃ (जपानंतरं मालामन्त्रं) :-

Recite the below śloka and mantra, followed by placing the māla upon the top of the head and then place it back in the māla bag and conceal it. It should NOT be worn.

śloka॥ oṃ tvaṃ māle sarvadevānāṃ prītidā śubhadā bhava।

śubhaṃ kuruṣya me bhadre yaśo vīryaṃ ca dehime॥

श्लोक॥ ॐ त्वं माले सर्वदेवानां प्रीतिदा शुभदा भव।

शुभं कुरुष्य मे भद्रे यशो वीर्यं च देहिमे॥

mantra॥ oṃ hrīṃ siddhyai namaḥ॥

मन्त्र॥ ॐ ह्रीं सिद्ध्यै नमः॥
