Meaning:- This prayer/mantra japa is to invoke Śrī Pratyaṅgirā and perform Her mantra japa to obtain Her complete grace in all aspects, and especially for removal of all enmity and negativity afflicting us. The sage (ṛṣiḥ) is Mahā Bhairava, the meter (chandas) for the mantra is Anuṣṭup and the deity is Śrī Pratyaṅgirā, the seed (bījaṃ) is em̐, the power or śakti is hrīm̐. The secret to unlock the mantra or kīlakaṃ is svāhā.

Meaning:- I meditate upon on the Divine Mother Śrī Pratyaṅgirā, dark as the night sky with Her hair loosened and wavy. She is clothed by the vast deep space and is enormous. She holds a sword and a shield in Her hands and is decorated with ornaments around Her arms. She has enormous diamond like teeth and a very wide gaping mouth. She takes in all the negative and inimical forces and frees us from all karmas impacting our progress. Glory be to the Divine Mother, Who shines with the spiritual energy of Lord Śaṅkara/Śiva.

Recite the below mantra once, to pray to the japa māla and invoke the blessings for a fruitful japa.

Meaning:- The bīja (seed mantra) om̐ represents auspiciousness and is the śabda brahman or the Superconsciousness manifested as sound. The vāgbhāva bīja (seed mantra) aim̐, represents all knowledge, spiritual and material. The māyā bīja (seed mantra) hrīm̐ represents manifestation of everything as the power of Creation, sustenance as the power of Preservation and transformation as the power of Destruction. It is also related to concentration, focus, energy, drive, self-esteem, high power and is the main śakti mantra. The Lakṣmī bīja (seed mantra) śrīm̐, represents abundance, wealth, well-being and prosperity.
This mantra is a prayer to the Goddess Śrī Pratyaṅgirā, asking Her to come to our rescue and remove all negative energies and inimical forces acting upon us and also to free us from all bad karma and help with our well-being.

siddhirbhavatu me devi tvatprasādānmayi sthirā ॥
गुह्यातिगुह्यगोप्त्री त्वं गृहाणास्मात्कृतं जपम्।
सिद्धिर्भवतु मे देवि त्वत्प्रसादान्मयि स्तिरा॥
14.japānaṃtaraṃ mālāmantraṃ (जपानंतरं मालामन्त्रं) :-
Recite the below śloka and mantra, followed by placing the māla upon the top of the head and then place it back in the māla bag and conceal it. It should NOT be worn.

Thanks Raviji - 1) If one recites lalita sahasranama, Maha Pratyangira protects the devotee. Am wondering would one need to do separate sadhana for Sri Maha Pratyangira? "Yo vabhicharam kuruthe nama sahasra padake, Nivarthya thath kriyaam hanyatham vai prathyangira swayam" 2) Most importantly, are there any precautions to be taken when worshiping ugra devatha like Sri Maha Pratyangira? I remember reading elsewhere long back that Gayatri sadhana is necessary to be able to behold the energy of Sri Maha Pratyangira ?

Ugra devatas speed up the depletion of karmas, which would generally bring a lot of discomfort and are therefore feared for this purpose. There is no compulsion in reciting the Śrī Pratyaṅgira mantra for the Śrī Vidya worshippers. But those facing extreme difficulties and dangers or in need of acquiring great power may benefit from this sadhana, if one worships with utmost devotion and love towards the Divine Mother. Depending on the tradition, One may recite Śrī Bālā or Śrī Gayatrī mantras along with that of Śrī Pratyaṅgira, if faced with a torrent of energy. Otherwise, the mantra japa can also be done independently.

Usually one seeks initiation into these type of ugra (fierce) devata (deity) mantras, when facing extreme difficulties. The difficulties could be external such as conflict with partners, enemies, legal issues, competition victory etc or internal, such as diseases, psychic conditions, black magic etc. or both external and internal. When the mantra japa is started, these issues seem to get a little aggravated based on one's karma and then will subside at a faster rate, than one would experience with the Soumya (gentler) deity mantras. I have had very good results from this mantra japa. The benefits were more spiritual than material and it helped break many barriers. One should seek guidance from their guru/spiritual guide and proceed accordingly.

Could you help me sir? Is it possible to request a distance initiation with regard to Goddess Kali and Goddess Pratyangira?

There is a link on the top of the web page for 'Mantra Initiations'. Please click on it for further information. You may contact any one of the persons listed and get an initiation. You do not need to travel anywhere. Remote initiations can be given through online communication tools such as skype, WhatsApp etc. The traditional method is to seek an in person initiation, but that may not be possible for most people these days.

There are so many variations of this mantra. Each mantra has its own purpose. Importantly, Pratyangira mantra is available also in Atharvana Veda. Main purpose of any variation of this mantra is to re-direct the kritya to its generator.

Yes - Heard of the story of how Kritya can be sent back to kill the enemy who sent the kritya in a talk by Sri Siddeswarananda Bharatiji of Courtalam. He mentioned a story in which Duryodhana uses a Mantrik Kanakaswamy to send a Kritya to kill Pandavas. Swamiji published Atharvanaveda Ruks (60 ruks) and its meaning in a book "Pratyangira Sadhana". He says there is a saying in Telugu "pratyangira chese vadi panchana undakudadu, sharabha saluvuni chese vadi chentana undakudadu". Rough translation is you shouldn't be close to anybody who does Sri Pratyangira or Sri Sharaba Saluva Sadhana, because if sadhak get irritated you will face the troubles.

Yes you can recite for legal problems. I would strongly suggest getting an initiation first. You may also recite the śrī pratyaṅgirā sarvārtha sādhaka kavacam for better results.

Krishnaji - 1) I am wondering why you chose this particular mantra for your sadhana over Sri Pratyangira Moola Mantra(.....ksham paksha jwala jihve ....). Any plans of providing moola mantra on the website with your explanation? 2)When you say Pratyangira is Siddalakshmi - is it because of the vaishnava story of Sri Lakshmi taking the Narasimhika form to calm down Narasimha or any other reason for calling Sri Pratyangira as Siddalakshmi? 3) Can we say "mama raksha raksha"and "mama shatrun baksha baksha" has 4 times Ksha and 4 times Ma. Can we say its her Bija albeit in reverse or is it that I am seeing what I want to see in that 4)Finally - when you did the sadhana did you align the mantra with your breath? obviously - we don't want to forget "Shatrun" in mantra when saying baksha baksha" while being busy with something else. How did you stop your mind from repeating the mantra throughout the day - say when driving, working, cooking or when one goes to bed? Thanks in advance.

1. I preferred to bring the protection mantra to help those facing the effects of black magic and other kṛtya/spell(s). There are many other variations of the Divine Mother śrī pratyaṅgirā that are used for various purposes. The mantra you are referring to is of Atharvaṇa bhadrakāli, who is also referred as pratyaṅgirā devi. 2. Now that you have asked for Her, We will publish the mantra of Atharvaṇa bhadrakāli - śrī pratyaṅgirā. I'll try to get this out later next week. It's not for the faint-hearted and should not be practiced unless one has taken their guru's permission to do so. 3. When seen from the Lord Viṣṇu centric - Vaiṣṇava paradigm, śrī pratyaṅgirā is Narasiṃhika, the consort of Lord Narasiiṃha. When seen from the śakta - Mother Goddess śakti paradigm, She is siddhalakṣmi, the bestower of all siddhis and an aspect of the Divine Mother Kāli. She is also the extremely horrific atharvaṇa bhadrakāli, the protector of all secrets of the mysterious repository of all spells and magic - atharvaṇa veda. It is said that none of the spells mentioned in this veda work, without the blessings of this form of the Divine Mother. 3. It is a very interesting observation and definitely notes your love and devotion towards śrī pratyaṅgirā devi. 4. I aligned the mantra with my breath and recited it at all times. The point behind aligning with breath, is to allow ajapa or unconscious/unmindful recitation. This is a practice related to samaya mārga, which represents the meditational path of tantra and is unmindful of other daily chores. The Vedic ritualistic Path also called the dakṣiṇa mārga, has various restrictions and does not necessitate the mantra - breath alignment. One can adopt the method best suited for worship. All of them are good and irrespective of which path we take, the destination is the same.

In addition, śrī siddhi lakṣmi is also known as pūrṇa caṇḍi in the śrī durgā tradition. Her iconography of standing on the hands of Bhairava depicts Her as His śakti and is one of the most fearsome aspects of the Divine Mother. Needless to say, She is an ugra devata and is a very fierce aspect of Mahālakṣmi. It is to be noted that She is called as 'siddhilakṣmi' as well as 'siddhalakṣmi'. Both names depict the same form of the Divine Mother.

In fact I landed on this website a couple of months ago when I searched for Kali Kavacham and landed on "Kamakalakali Trilokyamohana Kavacham" page. Then Ravijis writings on Srividya kept bringing me back. 2)ok-understood. Looking fwd to ur atharvana badrakali posting. 3)thanks 4)Ok. great. I read a piece on ajapa-japa by Swami Niranjananda in 2003. Since then I have been attempting to align whichever mantra I was working with. Given Pratyangira is ugra devata I was wondering if we should do it. Regarding PurnaChandi - Is PurnaChandi different from Chandi of Saptashati? If yes, what are the differences. I'm not aware of the differences between Pūrṇa Caṇḍi and Laghu Caṇḍi. There isn't much information related to Pūrṇa Caṇḍi. Hopefully, someone with more knowledge can answer this query. The article you referred, mentions that they both can be approached through the Navārṇa Mantra. This by default extends to the Śrī Siddhakuñjikā Stotram.

From what I know, Purna Chandi dhyana is more of SidhhiLakshmi. Bhairav is Kal-Martanda Bhairav. SHE is Shakti of Purna Brhaman. Durga Saptashati's Laghu Chandi's Mula Satva & Saar is Purna Chandi. Mantra is different from Navarna. Purna Chandi is worshipped from Kali Kula (Guhya Kali), with Navakshari mantra.

There are three Chandikas. Laghu Chandi which is navaakshari, Purna Chandi who is Siddhilakshmi of 18 aksharas and then Ugra Chandi or Ugra Chanda. The first and third are upaamnaay but the second is uttaramnaay.

Sir, what is the reference document/tantra/book for upaamnaaya? I don't remember seeing the Siddhilakṣmi mantra in the Uttarāmnāya either, looking up Āmnāya Mandāram, a Sanskrit book written in Telugu script, outlining all the Āmnāya mantras.

In Shreevidya system, especially followed in south India, amnayas are six. Poorva - unmanee, Dashina - bhoginee, Pashchima - Kunchika (Kubjika written vernacuarly), Uttar - Chandayoginee, oordhva - chaitanyabhairavee, anuttar - anuuttarshaankaree. This is for upasakas who worship one Mahaavidyaa. In Kram Diksha, which comes after worshipping these amnaayas, once mahaasaamraaybhishek happens: adharamnaay - Mahogrataara, poorva - bhuvneshvaree, dakshin - Kalee, pashcim - kubjikaa, upaamnaay (consists of nairitya, eeshan, aagney,vaayavya aamnays) - ugrachandaa, uttar - Kaamkalaa guhyakaali, oordhva - Raajrajeshvari. For most upasakas, one mahaavidya is more than enough. This kram diksha method is for sadhaks who can give up their yajnopaveet and enter avdhooti state. Also, this is kaula not dakshinaarchar.

To the best of my knowledge, it should be 'मम' ('mama' ) and not 'माम्' or 'मम्'. But if this mantra is obtained from a realized guru as part of initiation, it may still work.

We talk about the potency of mantras, ugra devatas, saumya devatas etc. We also hear that some mantras work very quickly and some are slow. With your experience, what would say if I ask you, for those who are in grave situations, which mantra is the most potent in terms of results. Which acts very quickly and helps people come out of their extreme grave situations within no time.

I rely on Śrī Pratyaṅgirā Devi in dire times. It is just a matter of faith. Any ugra devata is fine and can be relied upon. It is important that we follow the mantra japa and yantra puja on a regular basis to the best of our ability. Results may be faster, but the turmoil resulting in the fast burning of karmas, can be quite distressing. As much as possible, the Saumya devatas should be relied upon for routine matters and resort to ugra devatas when things get very dire and the situation looks hopeless. To obtain a job, earn more money or promotion or recovery from a flu, regular mantras can be relied upon and it is unnecessary to rely on ugra devatas for it. For any life threatening matters, by all means go to the ugra devatas.

Thank you sir. Actually I am looking for a job and settlement in life. I am getting jobs but I couldn't stay in a single job for more than 3 months. Some or the other thing is happening and I am facing the wrath of the management. I am tired and tried different mantras, nothing seems to be working. Trying to get in a bigger company but they are not interested in my resume. Smaller companies are hiring and firing.. losing hope. what do i do

dear sir, from a Sanskrit grammer perspective, 'माम्' means me - hence, 'माम्' रक्ष रक्ष means protect me. मम् - means mine or my मम् शत्रून भक्ष भक्ष - means gobble my enemies... hence, kindly confirm what the mantra should project... since this is a Ugra devata, I believe wrong usage of akshara can be dangerous

In general 'मम' ('mama' ) is used. Maybe due to Chandas or other regional language variations or sometimes misprints, spelling mistakes etc. could generate the other words. Regardless, the meaning is the same which you have correctly described. The meaning of the mantra has been described in the main article and you may refer the same. There can be many variations of a mantra and the deeper meanings can be sought from the mantra giver/guru.

Mr. Gold, hope Mother blesses you soon. Do not practice different mantras, stick with one with full faith. Do not use ugra mantras picked from books or internet. They are like double edged sword - if you touch objects hot by nature, and you are unprepared, it burns. Chant Lalita Sahasranaam everyday thrice and Lakshmi and Narahayan hriday everyday. If you do these with full faith and without giving up, problems will be 100% solved. Cutting karma takes time, so do not give up.

Just a couple of days ago I have selected one of the Kali mantras on this website and took an oath to continue it for life. So, I am going to chant the mantra, whatever happens. Namaste Krishna Sir. Referring to the above, in the viniyoga it is saying "aim beejam, shreem shakti, svaahaa keelakam" while in the laghunyasa it says "hreem beejaaya, shreem shaktaye, svahaaa keelakaaya". Should the beeja, shakti and keelaka in the Viniyoga and Laghunyaasa correspond to each other or is it that the article is correct as published? Thank you.
