The meaning of this verse is: She is anointed with kumkum and vermilion, which gives a pleasant fragrance, towards which bees are attracted. She looks at Her devotees with a benignant smile. She holds in Her hands bow and arrow, two weaponries. She attracts everybody; which means everybody is attracted to Her irrespective of being Her devotee or not. She is wearing a red garland made out of special sandal wood. Excellent ornaments adore Her and She has the complexion like a hibiscus flower. One has to meditate on this form of Lalitāmbikā during japa time.
{sakuṃkuma – with kumkum; vilepanāṃ – anointing; alika + cumbi – attracted by bees; kastūrikāṃ –vermilion; samanda + hasita + ekṣaṇām (samanda-hasitekṣaṇām)– benignant+ smile + looks; saśara – with arrow; cāpa – bow; pāśa – a weapon; aṅkuśa – a weapon (these two weapons are already discussed in second śloka); + aśeṣa + jana + mohinīm – attracts people without exception;aruṇa – red; mālya – a type of sandal wood from Malaysian mountains; bhūṣa - ornaments;aṁbarām – without the use of magical feats or incantations (attractions by sheer presence); japā-kusuma – red hibiscus flower; bhāsurām – decorated; japa + vidhau – as per the rules of japa ormantra chanting; smared + ambikām – think about Her.}

Hi sir. What is the main difference between the Panchadasi and the Soubhagya Panchadasi mantras? Which one should be recited by a person who wants to achieve materialistic benefits? Thank you.

Panchadashi mantra is in its raw form, which is the seed mantra Sowbhaghya Panchadasi mantra. Three bijaksharas of Bala mantra is prefixed to each line of Panchadashi mantra, which gives rise to Sowbhaghya Panchadashi mantra, which is very good for material benefits.

Thank you sir. If one recites only the mantra without the nyasa etc, will it give the same result?

Procedure is that it should be recited with nyasas. But there are many, who only chant the mantra. Result may marginally vary.

Namaste guruji. Could you explain on how we can align this mantra with breath? I mean which part is for inhalation and which part is for exhalation/holding? Thank you.

Inhalation : holding : exhalation shroud be in the ration of 1:4:2. Accordingly you can adjust the mantra and align the japa mantra to your breath. For example, repeat the mantra one time and inhale. Hold your breath by repeating the mantra four times. Exhale, by repeating the mantra two times.

Thank you guruji. I have just come across a technique called 'Sagarbha Pranayama' (Inhalation, chant mantra while holding and exhalation) and everyone says it is more powerful than any other japa methods. What would you suggest personally? Thank you again.

One other method I have noticed is at Shreemaa Ashram(California). The method they use is to Inhale a lungful of air very fast and then exhale slowly while reciting the mantras. They recite Chandi Path/Saptashati and all other mantras(navarna mantra, shiva mantras, ganesh etc.,) with this method. For a small mantra like - say - Om Namah Shivaya - they inhale lungful very fast and then while exhaling they recite -Om Namah Shivaya 10 times. If it is Chandi Path then they inhale fast and recite a verse or two while exhaling. What Swamiji there said is that with practice we increase our time of exhalation by gradually increasing the number of repetitions while exhaling. I found this to be an easier and very effective technique to practice.

The 1:4:2 formula or the 1:4:2:2 (the last one is before breathing again) calms the mind and helps with meditation as well as for the mantra to sink deep into the mind. Fast breathing is akin to running and keeping the heart beating very fast. In such a scenario, it's hard to focus and remain calm, especially with mantras. One should eventually fall into a meditative state with great practice, while reciting the mantras. This is the same concept used with Kriya Yoga and other forms of kundalini meditation. The quality of the mantra japa recitation is more important than the quantity. One can see benefits with even 20-30% of the stipulated number of japas, if there is utmost concentration and devotion towards the mantra japa. My personal choice is the slow breathing technique. Many great stalwarts and Rishis can be observed in states, where they seem to be not breathing at all. With practice, the breathing becomes like a fine thread and the yogi/sadhaka appears to be in a breathless state.

Namhashivaya. Amazing website and thank you for the organizers and contributors. Quick question. If you practice Śrī Saubhāgyavidyā Pañcadaśākṣarī Mantra Japaḥ then for the Shodashi (Not Maha Shodashi), Do you add Shim or Klim or Aim after the full Śrī Saubhāgyavidyā Pañcadaśākṣarī mantra (Which is with the Aim + Klim + Sauḥ ) or you just don't use Aim + Klim + Sauḥ and just use Panchadashi mantra and add Shim or Klim or Aim at the end ?

There are many variations of ṣoḍaśī mantras. Usually, Her mantra is the Pañcadaśākṣarī combined with one more bīja, commonly śrīm̐.

Thank you. So which one would you advice as the correct or better one ? Option 1 or Option 2 mentioned below.

Option 2 is more popular. There is no such thing called a better option. Everything that one can aspire for, is granted by Pañcadaśākṣarī mantra itself. One need not look any further. It is however a common practice to proceed to the higher ṣoḍaśī mantras to obtain self-realization and liberation. It is not meant for material gains and should be properly initiated.

Thanks for quick reply. Think i was not clear in asking question. What i was trying to ask was that, Is Option 1 or Option 2 correct Lagu Shodashi if I follow the Sowbhaghya Panchadashi path and not the regular Panchadashi. If you see the option 1, I myself manually added श्रीं at the end of Sowbhaghya Panchadashi to ask if that is right or option 2 which is usual lagu Shodashi published in your site which is adding श्रीं to panchadashi (Sowbhaghya Panchadashi). Hope its clear what i'm trying to clarify. If not please let me know. Thanks

Shri Ravi Guruji, Namaste! I am practicing the above mentioned " Soubhagya Vidya Pancha dasakshari for around few years now - this whole process once a day. On reading your comments on repeating the Japa throughout the day and so you sleep reciting and wake up reciting. I wish to do the Soubhagya Vidya Pancha dasakshari Japa as well. I read Varivasya Rahasya of Guru Shri Bhaskaraya Makhin multiple times, but the Matra - lava concept is the one I am unable to understand. I could understand the calculation of 11Matra minus 1 lava for 1st Kuta, 11.5 minus 1 for 2nd and 8.5 minus 1 for 3rd. But practically maintaining the duration of chanting is not clear for me. Could you please help me in understanding this.

Mantra siddhi means you derive the benefits of that mantra. Mantra siddhi is difficult unless it is practiced with highest level sincerity and devotion. There is no count for mantra siddhi. It is believed that when purascharana is done, mantra siddhi is automatic. But this is wrong. 18.00 lacs is the count for purascharana for Sowbhaghya Panchadashi mantra.
