Śrī caturdaśākṣara aśvārūḍhā Mantra Japa ( श्री चतुर्दशाक्षर अश्वारूढा मन्त्र जप )

1. Viniyogaḥ ( विनियोगः ) :-

om̐ asya śrī aśvārūḍhā mahā mantrasya ।
brahmā ṛṣiḥ ।
virāṭ chandaḥ ।
aśvārūḍhāṃbā devatā ।
ām̐ bījaṃ ।
hrīm̐ śaktiḥ ।
krom̐ kīlakaṃ ।
aśvārūḍhāṃbā prasāda siddhyarthe jape viniyogaḥ ॥

ॐ अस्य श्री अश्वारूढा महा मन्त्रस्य ।
ब्रह्मा ऋषिः ।
विराट् छन्दः ।
अश्वारूढांबा देवता ।
आँ बीजं ।
ह्रीँ शक्तिः ।
क्रोँ कीलकं ।
अश्वारूढांबा प्रसादसिद्ध्यर्थे जपे विनियोगः ॥

 

Meaning:- This prayer/mantra japa is to invoke śrī aśvārūḍhā and perform Her mantra japa to the obtain Her complete grace in all aspects. The sage/ṛṣiḥ is brahmā, the meter for the mantra is gāyatrī and the deity is śrī aśvārūḍhā, the seed/bījaṃ is aim̐, the power or śakti is svāhā. The secret to unlock the mantra or kīlakaṃ is mahā māyeti.

2. Kara nyāsa ( कर न्यास ) :-

Use both the thumbs and run them on both the index fingers.

oṃ ūm̐ madhyamābhyāṃ namaḥ

ॐ ऊँ मध्यमाभ्यां नमः

Use both the thumbs on the middle fingers.

4

oṃ aim̐ anāmikābhyāṃ namaḥ

ॐ ऐँ अनामिकाभ्यां नमः

Use both the thumbs on the ring fingers.

5

oṃ aum̐ phaṭ kaniṣṭikhābhyāṃ namaḥ

ॐ औँ फट् कनिष्टिखाभ्यां नमः

Use both the thumbs on the little fingers.

6

oṃ aḥ karatalakara pṛṣṭhābhyāṃ namaḥ

ॐ अः करतलकर पृष्ठाभ्यां नमः

Open both the palms; run the opened palms of the right hand on the front and back sides of the left palm and repeat the same for the other palm.

3.Saḍaṅga nyāsa ( षडङ्ग न्यास ) :-

Open index, middle and ring fingers of the right hand and place them on the heart chakra.

Open middle and ring fingers of the right hand and touch the top of the forehead.

3

om̐ krom̐ śikhāyai vaṣaṭ

ॐ क्रोँ शिखायै वषट्

Open the right thumb and touch the back of the head. This is the point where the tuft of hair, is kept.

4

om̐ ehohi kavacāya huṃ

ॐ एहोहि कवचाय हुं

Cross both the hands and run the fully opened palms from shoulders to finger tips.

om̐ parameśvari netratrayāya vauṣaṭ

ॐ परमेश्वरि नेत्रत्रयाय वौषट्

Touch the eyes with the right index and ring fingers, with the middle finger touching the ājña cakra.

6

om̐ svāhā astrāya phaṭ

ॐ स्वाहा अस्त्राय फट्

Open up the left palm and strike it three times with index and middle fingers of the right hand.

iti ṣaḍaṅga nyāsaḥ

इति षडङ्ग न्यासः

 

 

bhūrbhuvassuvaromiti digbandhaḥ ॥
भूर्भुवस्सुवरोमिति दिग्बन्धः॥

4. Dhyānam ( ध्यानम् ) :-

raktāmaśvādhirūḍhāṃ śaśidharaśakalāṃbaddhamauliṃ trinetrāṃ ।
pāśenābadhya sādhyaṃ smaraśara-vivaśāṃ dakṣiṇena-ānayantīṃ ।
hastenānyena vetraṃ vara-kanaka-mayaṃ dhārayantīṃ manojñayāṃ ।
devīṃ dhyāyedajastraṃ kucabharanamitāṃ divya hārābhirāmāṃ ॥

रक्तामश्वाधिरूढां शशिधरशकलांबद्धमौलिं त्रिनेत्रां ।
पाशेनाबध्य साध्यं स्मरशरविवशां दक्षिणेनानयन्तीं ।
हस्तेनान्येन वेत्रं वरकनकमयं धारयन्तीं मनोज्ञयां ।
देवीं ध्यायेदजस्त्रं कुचभरनमितां दिव्य हाराभिरामां ॥

Meaning:- Salutations to Śrī Aśvārūḍhā, who vanquishes all the hostile enemies, both internal and external. She is meditated upon as One riding the red Aparājita horse, with a moon crescent decorating Her head and having three eyes, representing complete spiritual awakening. In one hand, She holds a rope/lasso/leash/pāśa that She wields to subdue and bind the inner evils of lust, gambling etc and helps reverse our fortune, to gain immense wealth, health and knowledge, as a true teacher and guide. By another hand, She holds a large cane/staff/bow to guide us on the right path and She is golden yellow by complexion. She is well endowed and and bedecked with ornaments of all precious stones and extremely beautiful and pleasing to look at.

5. Pañcapūjā ( पञ्चपूजा ) :-

हँ - आकाशात्मिकायै पुष्पैः पूजयामि।

 

Hold the lower tip of the bottom phalange of the thumbs of both hands with the upper tip/nails of the index fingers, with the back of the palm facing us.

yam̐ - vāyvātmikāyai dhūpamāghrāpayāmi |

 

यँ - वाय्वात्मिकायै धूपमाघ्रापयामि।

 

Hold the lower tip of the bottom phalange of the index fingers of both hands with the upper tip of the thumbs, with the back of the palm facing us.

ram̐ - agnyātmikāyai dīpaṁ darśayāmi |

 

रँ - अग्न्यात्मिकायै दीपं दर्शयामि।

 

Hold the lower tip of the bottom phalange of the middle fingers of both hands with the upper tip of the thumbs, with the back of the palm facing us.

vam̐ - amṛtātmikāyai amṛtaṁ mahānaivedyaṁ nivedayāmi |

 

वँ - अमृतात्मिकायै अमृतं महानैवेद्यं निवेदयामि।

 

Hold the lower tip of the bottom phalange of the ring fingers of both hands with the upper tip of the thumbs, with the back of the palm facing us.

sam̐ - sarvātmikāyai sarvopacāra pūjām samarpayāmi ||

 

सँ - सर्वात्मिकायै सर्वोपचार पूजाम् समर्पयामि॥

 

Hold the fingers of each palm in a folded manner with the tips of each fingers of both hands touching each other  and the thumbs facing the heart, in a Namaste position.

 

6. japamālā mantraṃ ( जपमाला मन्त्रं ) :-  Recite the below mantra once, to pray to the japa māla and invoke the blessings for a fruitful japa.

oṃ māṃ māle mahāmāye sarvamantra svarūpiṇi।
caturvarga stvayinyasta stasmānye siddhidā bhava॥

ॐ मां माले महामाये सर्वमन्त्र स्वरूपिणि।
चतुर्वर्ग स्त्वयिन्यस्त स्तस्मान्ये सिद्धिदा भव॥

 

7. guru mantra ( गुरु मन्त्र ) :-  Recite the following guru mantra once, to seek the blessings of all gurus and the Guru

oṃ hrīṃ siddhaguro prasīda hrīṃ oṃ
ॐ ह्रीं सिद्धगुरो प्रसीद ह्रीं ॐ

 

8. saptatriṃśatyākṣari mantra ( चतुर्दाक्षरा मन्त्र ) :-  The 14 lettered mantra is –

om̐ ām̐ hrīm̐ krom̐ ehohi parameśvari svāhā ॥
ॐ आँ ह्रीँ क्रोँ एहोहि परमेश्वरि स्वाहा ॥

The above mantra should be recited using the above consecrated japa māla. The māla should have 108 beads plus a meru or head bead. The count is from the meru bead and back. The meru bead itself should not be counted. When the count reaches the meru, flip the māla, to count in reverse and so on, for the decided number of māla counts.

Mantra meaning:-  Salutations to the Divine Mother Śrī Aśvārūḍhā, Worshipped as Śakti. May She come (ehohi or ehi) to us and bless us profusely. The bījas om̐ represents manifested Brahman vibrating as the primordial sound as Śabda Brahman.  ām̐ is Śiva and Śakti in union and constitute the Universal superconsciousness. hrīm̐ is the Śakti bīja and represents auspiciousness and krom̐ is the kāli bīja constituting supreme knowledge and the destruction of all falsehood.

 

9.ṣaḍaṅga nyāsa ( षडङ्ग न्यास ) :-

10. Dhyānam ( ध्यानम् ) :-

Hold the fingers of each palm in a folded manner with the tips of each fingers of both hands touching each other  and the thumbs facing the heart, in a Namaste position.

 

12. Samarpaṇam ( समर्पणम्  ) :Take water in uttaraṇi and by reciting the following śloka, offer the water to the earth

गुह्यातिगुह्यगोप्त्री त्वं गृहाणास्मात्कृतं जपम्।
सिद्धिर्भवतु मे देवि त्वत्प्रसादान्मयि स्तिरा॥

guhyātiguhyagoptrī tvaṁ gṛhāṇāsmat-kṛtaṁ japam।
siddhirbhavatu me devi tvatprasādānmayi sthirā ॥

 

13. japānaṃtaraṃ mālāmantraṃ ( जपानंतरं मालामन्त्रं ) :-   Recite the below śloka and mantra, followed by placing the māla upon the top of the head and then place it back in the māla bag and conceal it. It should NOT be worn.

 

śloka॥  oṃ tvaṃ māle sarvadevānāṃ prītidā śubhadā bhava।
              śubhaṃ kuruṣya me bhadre yaśo vīryaṃ ca dehime॥

श्लोक॥ ॐ त्वं माले सर्वदेवानां प्रीतिदा शुभदा भव।
              शुभं कुरुष्य मे भद्रे यशो वीर्यं च देहिमे॥

 

mantra॥ oṃ hrīṃ siddhyai namaḥ॥

मन्त्र॥ ॐ ह्रीं सिद्ध्यै नमः॥
