śrī bagalāmukhī pratyaṅgirā devi kavacam ( श्री बगलामुखी प्रत्यङ्गिरा देवि कवचम् )
Prologue :-
The śrī bagalāmukhī pratyaṅgirā devi kavacam is one of the most protective shields or armor, that one can deploy to protect himself, dear ones or close friends and family against formidable enemies, very dangerous life threatening conditions or in situations when one is perceiving immense threat from foes, competitors and other adversaries, adamant on destruction and causing immense pain and misery. Under these adverse situations, One may consider reciting this kavacam to ward off all threats.
The kavacam is immensely powerful and even capable of halting adverse weather, if One has gained siddhi or fructification of the kavaca mantra of śrī bagalāmukhī pratyaṅgirā. All forms of sorrow caused by people, other entities and even ill-effects of planetary motion, can be reversed by the sincere and utmost dedicated recitation of this kavacam. This kavacam is also capable of fulfilling all wishes and bestowing immense fortune, curing life-threatening diseases and release from the karmic bondage, for those who recite at least three times a day with utmost concentration. It is also capable of granting the power of captivating and mesmerizing anyone, including people at the highest levels of authority and position.
No harm shall befall the devotees. There will be no afflictions from evil spirits or black magic spells cast upon the devotees. All of these will be destroyed by the power manifested by this kavacam.
The kavacam would be most effective for those, who are woshippers of śrī bagalāmukhī pratyaṅgirā and it's suggested to get initiated, prior to reciting the kavacam, to avoid any adverse effects or for quicker and effective results.

One question is that are these Kavacha's safe to chant as they have wordings like maaraya (i suppose it means killing the enemy) , kshobhaya means agitate the enemy etc.

They are surely safe, as the purpose is to destroy the enemies who obstruct spiritual path such as ego, desire, attachment, etc, the factors of maya.

As the name itself suggests, The Kavacham belongs to Shri Bagalamukhi/Vagalamukhi and also simultaneously falls in the Shri Pratyangira devi category. Those who are initiated into either of these mahavidyas, may recite the kavacham. Shri Pratyangira is Atharvana Bhadrakali.

You may be looking at a different version of this Kavacam. I would suggest that you follow whichever version you are most comfortable with and have received from your learned guru. Regarding the questions, 'tathā' is correct and I have made the respective change here and thank you very much for pointing out the error! Everything else I find to be in correct order.

Vijeetji, my experience is a totally different. I did a Sadhana from 1992 till 2003. I then moved to a different Sadhana. 9 years after that I did the old Sadhana again with intensity. On 3rd or 4th day, mother blessed me with an experience which was many times beautiful than what I experienced before. If there is a talk like what you are suggesting in Tantra world - it probably is because, some are trying to project human emotions onto deity. I have heard many learned folks saying "Devatas are Mantra-Baddha". Vijeetji - I would love to know if there is a Shastra Pramana for your assertion.

"Mantra baddha" in Sanskrit means - bound to the mantra. It is said that deities are bound to their mantras. In tantra, the deity, mantra, yantra are all one and the same, meaning they are all representations of the deity. The devotee aspires to become one with the deity, through devotion and worship of the mantra and yantra of the associated deity and also all the stipulated rituals and procedures, which together are called tantra.

as Krishnaji mentioned - 'mantra-baddha' means bound by mantra. deities are bound by mantra to respond when we do mantra sadhana. When we strike a match, fire manifests. similarly when we recite mantra, deity manifests. We might not perceive that at the beginning or the changes happening within us. In fact mantra is a sound form of deity.

Dear Swati, It depends upon type of mantra which we recite. I am talking about this mantra that if devi is there (u will feel definitely that she is there) and in mid u stop the mantra and she went then she will never come back. Are you talking about this mantra from 1992 till 2003

Vijeetji, one person’s experience cannot be generalized for all. When one is doing sadhana there are multiple variables specific to that person that are at play which determine success or lack thereof. Also our minds can play truant with us. That’s why it is said to depend on Shastra and Rrishi Vakya as pramana with guru being the final authority to determine what's happening with us. My experience I spoke about is NOT with this kavacha.

Swati ji, I have experience of many mantras when i left chanting siddhi was gone. in case of mala mantras siddhi can be again gained but in case of some mantras and all kavachas if u stopped it u will never gain that siddhi again. u can try this. read some kavach and when u feel that now effect is there then stop it to chant and read it after 1 week , I'm sure siddhi would be gone.

Thanks Vijeetji for sharing your experience. What you say flies in the face of my conception of mantra shastra. However, I am open to learn from your experience. Can you please elaborate a bit more on the following: How long did you do the sadhana of this kavacha before you felt mother’s presence. How many times did you recite a day? Why did you recite?(protection from whom/what?) and did you get the protection?. After how many days did you stop the sadhana? Which other mantras work only one time? Why do you think is the reason why this Kavacha works only once? thx.

Any god/goddess will protect you - if you are are a sincere devotee. However, If you are 1)in gravest danger needing highest protection and 2)qualified sadhaka(with sufficient sadhana balam) then Sri Siddeswarananda Bharati reccomends the Sri Pratyangira Sooktam from Pippalaada Shaaka of Atharvana Veda. Here is Swamiji reciting the Sri Pratyangira Sooktam: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31MbkTL2jn0 . This sooktam is said to not only protect but will destroy the enemies who did Kritya Prayogam. Disclaimer: I am not of follower of Sri Siddeswarananda Bharatiji nor do I recite the above sooktam. I am only sharing the information. Swamiji mentioned many times and many of his followers recite it regularly. Get initiated, learn the meaning of Riks of Sooktam and practice sincerely.

Swati, I chanted this pratyangira sooktam also and i found it is very powerful but also very dangerous because after reading ths, one of my family member who is also a victim of black magic started unbearable quarrel at home. So readers if u start it to chant and if peace is there after 2 or 3 days, do it regularly life time, but if quarrel type things there stop it immediately. This is my experience regarding this.

For eg. if u r tenant and try to harm ur landlord in any case it is definately a sin because u r using his property and try to harm him. Must remember there is lord saturn who gives strong punishment for a sin. Just chant this kavach in ur prayer. Never try to harm others just pray to goddess to give u safety and happiness thats enough. God bless u all. The most stubborn karma can burn with the aid of the Gāyatrī Mantra. Consider reciting 10 mālās before sunrise. 1 each on each cakra and 3 more on the ājñā cakra. It will take a few hours to do this and requires a dedicated effort on the part of the devotee. You should consider doing this at least for 3 to 6 months, before embarking on reciting any other high fetching mantra. It is to be noted that you should follow the proper procedure with initiation for the Gāyatrī Mantra.

I would suggest listening to something light when driving, cooking etc and not focus on mantras and stotras, unless you enjoy singing them or listening to their musical renditions. Each persons tastes differ, so choose wisely. Every task that we do has its own merit and it is best not to get distracted from the main task at hand. Speaking of cleanliness, it is more subtle than real. Meaning, our minds should be clean and the bodily cleanliness is secondary. One who is more forgiving and loving, is dearer to the Divine than one who is conceited about themselves or their clan etc. No specifics are mentioned in the tantras related to the siddhi of this kavacam. With unflinching loyalty and utmost dedication to the Divine Mother, we can achieve anything and everything we seek and more!

Salutations to you too Krishnaji. Thanks for your kind words. It was indeed encouraging to me. Please provide couple of clarifications at your convenience 1) in Dhyana Shlokam above, you have written as "नियोजिताः" Many sources have it as नियोजताः Ex:https://bit.ly/38uyFQM Which one is correct from authentic Tantra? What does it mean? 2) This Kavacham invokes shaktis: भ्रामरी , स्तभिनी ,क्षोभिणी ,मोहिनी , सम्हारिणी ,द्राविणी ,जृम्भिणी and रौद्ररूपिणी. 7 of the same Shaktis are invoked in Sri Tara Pratyangira Kavacham. Also, Sri Arya Dwishati in 69th Sloka talks about these very same Shaktis (refers as जम्भिन्याद्याः) as Sri Varahi parivara devatas. Who are these Shaktis? Are they Parivara Devatas of Sri Baglamukhi, Sri Tara, Sri Pratyangira & also Sri Varahi? From their names its clear what they do but would like to know more information about who they are, any other information about them from our Tantras/Sciptures? Thank you.

1. What I have specified is a proper word and maybe correct. If you find a more profound meaning and explanation of 'नियोजताः', then I would advice that you go for it. The word I specified niyojitāḥ (नियोजिताः) means "directed towards" and in this context, the Yogiṇīs are directed towards our enemies to fight and vanquish them. 2. These are Yogiṇīs associated with all the aforementioned deities and they serve them. From our perspective, these śaktis remove our misery and help ward off all dangers through their invincible protection. I am not much aware of the intricacies of these śaktis and their detailed descriptions in the tantras. Those who know more information, are kindly requested to provide the same in the comments section.

Thanks a lot Krishnaji. Once you confirmed नियोजिताः is correct version, its नियोजिताः for me. Reason I was cross checking with you is, it was नियोजताः here on manblunder before. Few days ago I noticed this http://manblunder-discussion-forum.4718.n7.nabble.com/Changes-to-Sri-Baglamukhi-Pratyangira-Kavacham-td1067.html. I realized you changed recently to नियोजिताः after a request for the same. I then searched Sanskrit dictionaries, googled/searched on YouTube and found नियोजताः . I tried to check in Rudrayamala Tantra but was unable to locate it. Confused, I thought I will seek your guidance given I recite this Kavacham 100 times a day I wanted to make sure its the correct version. Please note, Vernacular versions here on manblunder continue to say नियोजताः which might need updating. Thanks again for clarifications, insights and guidance. .

Can a Sri Vidhya initiate recite this kavacham? Also one may not have any serious external enemies or may be not facing a grave situation but one's own lifestyle and habits can often cause obstacles in the path of sadhana. So can this kavacham be chanted to gain protection from formidable internal enemies as well?

Those who are initiated into Śrī Pratyaṅgirā or Bagalāmukhī mantras may achieve better results than non-initiates. Śrī Vidyā upāsakas (initiates) do not get an automatic grant to recite this kavacam, but they may seek the approval of their gurus to recite the same or simply try it out themselves. There are many other kavacas that they can recite to obtain desired benefits. Both internal and external enemies will be subdued by the power of this kavacam, in due course of time.

There is a version of this kavacham that uses Bagalāmukhī Brahmāstra Vidya Bīja "hlrīm̐". Kavacham has become extremely aggressive in this other version.

I had a question, you said that - Hrīṁ can be replaced by - Hlrīṁ. And is it possible to replace - Hrīṁ with - Hlrīṁ Kṣaṁ or Kṣaṁ Hlrīṁ, because it is Baglamukhi Pratyangira Kavacham. Hlrīṁ Kṣaṁ - is this their bija mantras? And is it possible to make changes to this Kavacham and to others in general? Thanks for the answer.

Yes. Hrīṁ can be replaced by Hlrīṁ here, but replace - Hrīṁ with - Hlrīṁ Kṣaṁ or Kṣaṁ Hlrīṁ is not allowed because the kavacham is already being strengthened by the mantra (oṃ pratyaṅgirāyai namaḥ pratyaṅgire sakalakāmān sādhaya mama rak ghātaya ghātaya oṃ hrīm̐ phaṭ svāhā). Cherry making changes per our convenience is not allowed. Mantras, kavachas, stotras are according to the Shastras.

If someone decides to read instead bija mantra Hrīṁ -> Hlrīṁ, then is it necessary to make an appropriate replacement in the Pratyangira mantra (Hrīṁ -> Hlrīṁ)? What will this kavacham look like then?

I would suggest combining the kavaca with Śrī Bagalāmukhī Devi mantras, Āvaraṇa pūja, Sahasranāma and other Stotras/Stavas too on a daily basis. This will definitely enhance your sādhana and may help break the karmic barriers faster. Ultimately it is a matter of time with some patience and perseverance from our end. It took more than a decade and a half for me to notice any differences and I was not aware of all these processes, back when I started my spiritual practice. You can consider yourself very fortunate that there are numerous books, websites and even gurus to help you guide through the maze of tantra.

Initiation is always the best suggested way towards approaching any tantric mantras and hymns. To achieve results, follow the recommended procedures of mantra japa, yantra worship combined with the stotras. In general, results don't show up unless the karmic barriers are brought down.

We are all going through difficult times and you should consider yourself fortunate that you have had an opportunity to recite this kavacam. The results will depend upon the karmic barriers surrounding you and your family and how successful you have been in penetrating them. It is always suggested that you follow the Mantra and the associated Āvaraṇa pūja, stotras etc of Śrī Bagalāmukhī Devi with a proper initiation from a guru. This will generally produce better and faster results. During extremely difficult times and if you are unable to find an appropriate guru, you may follow the self-initiation procedures documented on our site and elsewhere. These are not a substitute, but may help you find an appropriate guide at some point of time and may also lead to greater success. You may also contact any of the gurus listed on our initiations page if needed.

Dear Sha, keep doing this puja with full dedication, devotion & faith. Maa Devi Bagla Pratyangira would surely help you. I am myself not expert. However based on reading elsewhere, consider replacing HREEM with HALEEM in the Kavacham portion if your situation is very bad & needs urgent attention. ????

You are best served by reciting Śrī Viṣṇu Sahasranāma daily in the morning. This should be sufficient. This kavacam is most effective if you are initiated into any of the Devi mantras associated with it. If you still wish to recite, you may do so by praying fervently to the deities and reciting this kavacam once daily. The timing would be what works best for you, when you have the time to sit and pray without any distractions.

You could be facing an extreme attack through black magic for which there can be salvation through worship of Śrī Pratyaṅgirā Devī or Śrī Śarabheśvara (Ākāśa Bhairava). I would recommend reciting the Śrī Pratyaṅgirā Devī Khaḍgamālā in front of Her yantra. You may use Kuṅkuṁ or flowers for the arcaṇa. If you require the yantra from an expert guru, I would recommend Shri Krishna ji of Medhayoga. You may contact him on hreemvidya@gmail.com or through his youtube channel. You are also welcome to contact any guru of your choice and obtain a consecrated yantra of Śrī Pratyaṅgirā Devī or Śrī Śarabheśvara. There is nothing in the entire universe or the Creation that can overcome the effects of Śrī Pratyaṅgirā Devī or Śrī Śarabheśvara. You should have the utmost faith in either of these deities and perform their mantra japa and Khaḍgamālā arcaṇa. Your chosen guru can guide you further on this. I recommend that you act fast and get the necessary protection that you need. I will certainly pray to the Divine Mother Śrī Pratyaṅgirā Devī to protect your sister, yourself and your entire family. Rest assured, the person doing the black magic will face ruin.

It is very much possible to misuse these mantras. However, such persons will face very bad karmic results and suffer due to that. You really need to see a proper practicing guru and take his/her advice. If you already have a guru, then follow the advice that has been given to you. I have given you my advice. You may choose any of the Daśamahāvidyās or form of Durga devi also. Initiation brings more benefits. Getting the direct grace from a guru can help in extreme situations like yourself.

I meant getting relief from the black magic. I don't mean to scare you, but you should seriously consider seeking help from a guru in person if possible. For these higher deities, best results come with initiation into the mantras of the deity. This is my recommendation for you. Regarding the Śrī Pratyaṅgirā Devī Khaḍgamālā, 1 recitation per day on Her yantra could be beneficial. You do not have to stop anything else if you are initiated into these stotras. Tantric stotras and mantras are generally ineffective if performed without proper initiation.

anuṣṭhāna, dīkṣa etc are different terms used in place of initiation. They mean the same thing in simple terms. In general for all tantra sādhanas, initiation is considered necessary. There is a self-initiation article on Manblunder that you can follow if you are unable to find an appropriate guru and wish to initiate yourself. One must make every sincere effort to find a proper guru who can guide the sādhaka. Since yours is a very complex case, my suggestion is to find a guru. Other options that you can try, is to obtain a sacred thread from a Devi temple and tie it on your sister's wrist and repeat the same for all members of your family. You may conduct a Sudarśana Homam at your home to seek protection if that is an option for you.

When you have a strong mind nothing can affect one person. First thing that needs to be done is that you should start thinking positively and stay strong. If you are already chanting this Kavacham its more than sufficient to provide protection. Consult someone who is trust worthy as most of the people are behind money for resolving such problems. It is better that the person suffering chants this with full concentration and trust in the diety/mantra. Take initiation or self initiate. This can also be psychological if one is going through tough time in their life and it manifests in dreams in different ways. Do chanting and meditation daily for stronger mind and consult a trusted person. Nothing will happen dont worry

Namaste Sha. The moment I found out about your problem I was very angry with this person doing these evil things for no reason. I will reveal to you the complete form of the greatest weapon of destruction against Adharma. Recite the Stotra I will write below 4 times a day: Dawn, Noon, Dusk and Midnight. Recite once in each of these four periods. With a fierce gaze and a fierce mindset and an absence of mercy towards Dharma enemies, recite the Stotra below in front of the Shri Chakra. Meditate by visualizing yourself as the fire of final dissolution and all enemies falling and being devoured by the fire that is you in the form of MAHĀVIPARĪTA PRATYAṄGIRĀ. Show no mercy to Dharma enemies. Educate them with this Stotra. They will become a better soul after punishment. Omission in these cases means sin. You must punish. There is no doubt that this Stotra will devour the life of the malicious ones along with everything around them. They will be better souls after the punishment, so don't worry. Below I will reveal to you something less potent, but more practical for present and future emergencies. Below I will list the deadliest weapons of ATHARVAṆA BHADRAKĀḺĪ. Each ṚK below represents a different weapon. You must choose the most suitable one according to your goals. The description will be present in the Viniyoga of each ṚK. You should choose only one and recite it 10,000 times and perform homa 1000 times. Then you can recite the perfected ṚK 108 times in any dangerous situation. Most of these ṚK have the potential to not only kill the enemy but kill the bloodline and clan completely. It will depend on the persistence of the enemy with you. Choose only one ṚK, according to your goals. The good people of India and all over the world need to put a brake on these bad people. They think they're smart and powerful just because innocent people don't fight back. The third option would be to recite the Maha Pratyangira Khadgamala. Devotees in despair can ask Atharvana Bhadrakali permission to recite her Mantra 108 times before reciting Khadgamala. She won't mind if you recite it only 108 times, but please don't do it without reciting the Khadgamala afterwards or she will get angry with you. Sorcerers use black magic through energies of the Shri Chakra in the form of Lalita (it is impossible to do this through Pratyangira), so it is often difficult to fight without knowing the hierarchy of the Shri Chakra. The weakness of each part of the Shri Chakra in the form of Lalita is the Shri Chakra in the form of Maha Pratyangira. The luminous part of the phases of the moon are manifestations of Lalita. The dark parts of the phases of the moon are Maha Pratyangira. This indicates the balance between good and evil. Full Moon is Lalita. New Moon is Maha Pratyangira. Lalita has 16 Nitya devis. Maha prartyangira also has her own Nitya Devis to subjugate Lalita Nitya Devis when necessary for the balance between good and evil. The 16 Nitya Devis of Pratyangira are in the same position as the Devi Khadgamala: Kāli, Kapālini, Kulle, Kurukulle, Virodhini, Vipracitte, Ugre, Ugraprabhe, Dīpte, Nīle, Ghane, Balāke, Mātre, Mudre, Mite and Paramātmike. These are the Nitya Devis of Maha Pratyangira. They are the dark part of the moon. They control the divine game where sometimes Lalita must yield to Pratyangira and other times Pratyangira must yield to Lalita. The last case would be when the malicious devotee desists from using the Shri Chakra's energies for evil. Seeing the devotee's regret, Maha Pratyangira stops subduing the malicious devotee and allows him to enjoy Lalita's energies.

Perhaps one of the worst evils a devotee can do is to use Ucchista Ganapati to perform black magic. Know that there is no defense for this type of attack. Ucchista Ganapati doesn't care even if the devotee himself curses him. He just can easily kill someone as if he were an innocent child. Only Maha Pratyangira could handle this. That is why the Guhya Nama Ucchista Ganapati Sahasranama remains an absolute secret. Because this Stotra is like Lalita Sahasranama, but without filters and with the innocence of a child. Ucchista Ganapati's Mantra: "hasti pishaci likhe swaha". This Mantra is like a crazy child that nobody can stop. Only Maha Pratyangira could handle this and stop this crazy child and put him to rest. Guhya Nama Sahasranama bestows all perfections in just one month of recitation.

Is it possible to recite the “publicly” accessible sanskritdocuments.org versions of Guhya Nama Ucchista Ganapati Sahasranama, if one may be seeking relief from severe asuric activity or black magic of extra-dimensional origin, and has not gotten satisfactory relief from numerous other measures? Or are these versions to disparate from the true, totally secret Guhya Nama Ucchista Ganapati Sahasranama?

If they were Muslims, it would be sufficient for your sister to listen to this Quranic exhortation: https://youtu.be/rLHzpk_vRlI

You can use Aksharamukha or Sanscript or any other online tools to convert from Roman IAST to Devanāgari.

You can recite it if you are initiated into the 37 lettered mantra of Śrī Ucchiṣṭa Gaṇapati. It is extremely hard to please the Higher deities and it generally takes a few years of sādhana to be able to see some benefits.

Namaskaraam. Thank you Krishnaji! The siddha initiating me into Bagalāmukhi sadhana advised caution. He was not familiar but said Maa Bagalāmukhi advised that it draws in chaotic energy and that I would perhaps be better off focusing on jangama dhyana or some other basic peaceful meditative practice while I prepare for Bagalāmukhi mantra diksha. However I am really curious about what this chaotic energy may feel like or what it may do for my kundalini yoga practices. After examining the names more closely from the guhya Sahasranamavali, it is simply too tempting and too exciting to not try a month or 48 days of morning recitation. Am I a fool?

Only the Rudrayāmalā version is permitted without an initiation. The uvācas preceding the Sahasranāma as well as the Phalaśruti do not give any leeway for checking out and it is highly restricted to advanced sādhakas with the proper initiation.

Dear Tripuraghna, Namaste! What is the source of this Viparīta Pratyaṅgirā Stotram Stotram and the other Pratyaṅgirā Stotram which you gave us earlier? The other one appears to have the Siddhilakṣmī bīja in the front making it Siddhilakṣmī Pratyaṅgirā Stotram. My intention is to publish them as separate articles with a translation.

Thank you for this guidance Krishnaji Within four days of recitation, several improbable obstacles to further recitation appeared, and I had to cease. It was a bit unnerving. Perhaps later on I may be so blessed to get the proper initiation from the proper guru, but for now I will not proceed with this restricted and unsafe practice. However I am still so curious, what about this may make it so risky that perhaps good karma may prevent an unprepared and uninitiated from reciting? I’ve seen other ashtottara and sahasranama with similarly striking namas. May I ask what is it about this one that makes it so foreboding? Why, for example, might it be of a more secretive level than the sahasranama of Maa Guhya?

A "ṚK" is a prayoga mantra meant to achieve a certain purpose. In this case, these are weapons that can be used for protection or destruction as the need may be.

If you are interested in any questions related to Baglamukhi Sadhana, write to this man. He wrote this himself: "I have completed just about 10 crore Bagla Bijas (100,000,000) since 2018. I am happy to share my experiences. My name is David and my email is - DavidMWhitehouse1@gmail.com". You can ask him.
