ॐ ह्ल्रीँ बगलामुखि सर्वदुष्टानां वाचं मुखं पदं स्तंभय जिह्वां कीलय बुद्धिं विनाशय ह्ल्रीँ ॐ स्वाहा ।
Meaning:-
The sthiramāyā bīja (seed) mantra hlīm̐ represents curbing and silencing (stambhana) of all enemies, internal and external, as well as obstacles in our material and spiritual progress. It consists of the letter ‘ha’ which is the ākāśa tattva representing the vast sky and the infinite space – ether and also Parāśiva representing perfect knowledge, pure bliss and dissolution of all sin and also prāṇa, the vital life-sustaining breath. The letter ‘la’ represents the earth or pṛthvi tattva, signifying stability and grounded nature. The letter ‘ī’ represents Mahāmāyā, the virtual reality. Lastly, the letter ‘m̐’ is nāda-bindu that dispels sorrow. Together, the signification is towards calming our taste, hunger, greed, speech and internal chatter in the mind, stabilizing the prāṇa or breath, which then leads to higher states of meditation to herald a spiritual transformation in due course of time. This mantra is also interpreted for calming the speech of the external opponents, when seen in the context of being a bīja mantra of Śrī Bagalāmukhī Devi as the most powerful brahmāstra vidya, which destroys all karmas and worries, impacting our material and spiritual progress.
The letter ‘ra’ is agni (fire) and it’s addition to the mantra hlīm̐, makes is hlrīm̐. This addition adds great aggression to the mantra and makes the overall mantra much stronger. In the Sāṃkhyāyana tantra, it is written that without the addition of ‘ra’, the bīja (seed) mantra hlīm̐, is not effective and does not produce any results. It is however not the case with other tantras such as Puraścaryārṇava tantra, where the hlīm̐ mantra is used instead of hlrīm̐.
“sarva-duṣṭānāṃ” means all enemies, internal and external. The word “vācaṃ” is speech, “mukhaṃ” is mouth, “stambhaya” means stalling, “jihvāṃ” means tongue, “kīlaya” is pinning down, “buddhiṃ” is intelligence, “vināśaya” is destruction.
The praṇava mantra, also referred to as Śabda Brahman, is om̐. It represents the primordial sound, auspiciousness and is the singular reality Itself manifested in the form of sound. All other sounds and waves are said to have emanated from this mantra.
The oblation offering mantra is svāhā. It is for partaking all the offerings from us, by the Divine.
The mantra overall, is for driving away all the enemies, external and internal. In the external context, it is for stalling the speech of the enemies, destroying their intelligence and making them go wayward and preventing them from causing any type of harm to us. In the internal context, it is meant to destroy loose talk and help us stabilize our mind by destroying thought processes and engage in deep contemplation of the divine.

Please take initiation from a practicing guru. All aspects of the mantra japa MUST be followed. In addition one must also perform the āvaraṇa pūja at regular intervals and recite the pāṭala and sahasranāma also, along with the kavaca and other stotras that may be suggested by the guru. This mantra is not suggested for self-initiation. It is best to seek guidance from a guru and follow the advice.

In the context of powerful Beejaksharas, what is the difference between ह्लीँ (hlīm̐) and ह्ल्रीँ (hlrīm̐) in terms of impact on chakras affected? My uninformed opinion is ह्लीँ (hlīm̐) impacts mostly lower chakras (Muladhara, Svadhistana and Manipura) while ह्ल्रीँ (hlrīm̐) moves up the chain into Anahata and Vishuddhi). Please correct me if this is not correct. Namaste
