Śrī Bhuvaneśvarī ekākṣara mantraḥ (श्री भुवनेश्वरी एकाक्षर मन्त्रः) :-

 

Source - śāradā tilakam and Daśamahāvidyā tantram.

Purpose - To attain all worldly achievements, wealth, status, etc. as well as self-realization and liberation.

1. viniyogaḥ (विनियोगः) :-

om̐ asya śrī bhuvaneśvarī mantrasya

śaktir ṛṣiḥ

bhuvaneśvarī devatā

hakāro bījaṃ

īkāra śaktiḥ

rephaḥ kīlakaṃ

ॐ अस्य श्री भुवनेश्वरी मन्त्रस्य ।

शक्तिर् ऋषिः ।

गायत्रीश् छन्दः ।

भुवनेश्वरी देवता ।

हकारो बीजं ।

ईकार शक्तिः ।

रेफः कीलकं ।

चतुर्वर्ग सिद्ध्यर्थे विनियोगः ॥

Meaning:- This prayer/mantra japa is to invoke Śrī Bhuvaneśvarī Devi and perform Her mantra japa to obtain Her complete grace in all aspects, and to obtain the four puruṣārthas: dharma (justice, law), artha (wealth), kāma (desires) and mokṣa (liberation). The sage (ṛṣiḥ) is Śakti, the meter (chandas) for the mantra is Gāyatrī and the deity is Śrī Bhuvaneśvarī, the seed (bījaṃ) is hakāra, the power or śakti is īkāra. The key (kīlaka) to unlock the mantra is repha.

2. ṛṣyādi nyāsa ( ऋष्यादि न्यास ) :-

ईँ शक्तये नमः पादयोः

Touch the feet with the right ring finger and thumb joined together.

ram̐ kīlakāya namaḥ nābhau

रँ कीलकाय नमः नाभौ

Touch the navel area with the right ring finger and thumb joined together.

caturvarga siddhyarthe viniyogāya namaḥ sarvāṅge  

चतुर्वर्ग सिद्ध्यर्थे विनियोगाय नमः सर्वाङ्गे

Run both the palms all over the body.

Open both the palms; run the opened palms of the right hand on the front and back sides of the left palm and repeat the same for the other palm.

Cross both the hands and run the fully opened palms from shoulders to finger tips.

hraum̐ netratrayāya vauṣaṭ

ह्रौँ नेत्रत्रयाय वौषट्

Touch the eyes with the right index and ring fingers, with the middle finger touching the ājña cakra.

6

hraḥ astrāya phaṭ

ह्रः अस्त्राय फट्

Open up the left palm and strike it three times with index and middle fingers of the right hand.

7

8. dhyānaṃ (ध्यानं) :-

uddaya-dina-dyutim-indu kirīṭāṃ tuṅga-kucāṃ nayana-traya-yuktām

smera-mukhīṃ varad-āṃkuśa-pāśā bhīti-karāṃ prabhaje bhuvaneśīm

उद्दयदिनद्युतिमिन्दु किरीटां तुङ्गकुचां नयनत्रययुक्ताम् ।

स्मेरमुखीं वरदांकुशपाशा भीतिकरां प्रभजे भुवनेशीम् ॥

Meaning :- Salutations to the Divine Mother Bhuvaneśvarī, who appears red in color like the rising sun. She is adorned with the moon on Her crown and is large-breasted, signifying the nourishment of the entire Creation. She is three-eyed signifying the combination of the sun, moon and fire and the activation of the ājñā cakra. She has a very pleasant disposition and has a smiling face welcoming Her devotees. She displays the abhaya mudra to allay the fears of all devotees and the varada mudra to grant all wishes. She holds the elephant goad to calm all senses and wields a noose to rein in all lost souls. She is requested to relieve us of all fears and illuminate us with the true nature of reality.

 

9. Pañcapūjā (पञ्चपूजा) :-

vam̐ - amṛtātmikāyai amṛtaṁ mahānaivedyaṁ nivedayāmi

सँ - सर्वात्मिकायै सर्वोपचार पूजाम् समर्पयामि

 

Hold the fingers of each palm in a folded manner with the tips of each fingers of both hands touching each other and the thumbs facing the heart, in a Namaste position.

 

10. Japamālā mantraṃ (जपमाला मन्त्रं) :-

Recite the below mantra once, to pray to the japa māla and invoke the blessings for a fruitful japa.

om̐ māṃ māle mahāmāye sarvamantra svarūpiṇi ।
caturvarga stvayinyasta stasmānye siddhidā bhava ॥

ॐ मां माले महामाये सर्वमन्त्र स्वरूपिणि ।
चतुर्वर्ग स्त्वयिन्यस्त स्तस्मान्ये सिद्धिदा भव॥

 

11. Guru Mantra (गुरु मन्त्र) :- Recite the following guru mantra once, to seek the blessings of all gurus and the Guru.

om̐ hrīm̐ siddhaguro prasīda hrīm̐ om̐

ॐ ह्रीं सिद्धगुरो प्रसीद ह्रीं ॐ ।

 

12. Utkīlana mantra (उत्कीलन मन्त्र) :- Recie the following impurities removing and cleansing mantra ten times -

14. Śāpavimocana mantra (शापविमोचन मन्त्र) :-  Recite the following curse removing mantra ten times –

15. Atha Śrī Bhuvaneśvarī Ekākṣara Mantraḥ (अथ श्री भुवनेश्वरी एकाक्षर मन्त्रः)

Meaning :- The mantra is formed by the following –

nakulīśa (ha), agni (ra), vāmanetra (ī), ardhacandra (m̐) => hrīm̐

Nakulīśa, is a form of Bhairava and He represents the outgoing breath and the sound ‘ha’.

Agni is fire, vāmanetra is the left eye and ardhacandra is half moon.

 

In addition, ‘ha’ represents the ether (ākāśa) and the infinite, ‘ī’ is air (vāyu), ‘ra’ represents the fire (agni).  Adding the Earth (pṛthvī) element along with Water (jala), completes all the natural elements that are responsible for the Creation and Sustenance. The Divine Mother Bhuvaneśvarī, is the Universal Mother and is the Creator, Preserver and Destroyer of all the three realms called as bhūḥ (Terrestrial), bhuvaḥ (Celestial) and svaḥ (Infernal). The triads are also representative and inclusive of the physical, astral and causal bodies.

17. dhyānaṃ (ध्यानं) :-

kṣat-kṣāmā koṭarākṣī masi-malina-mukhī mukta-keśī rudantī nāhaṃ tṛptā vadantī jagad-akhilabhidaṃ grāsamekaṃ karomi

hastābhyāṃ dhārayantī jvalad-anala-śikhā-sannibhaṃ pāśam-ugraṃ dantair-jambū-phalābhaiḥ parihastu bhayaṃ pātu māṃ bhadrakālī

क्षत्क्षामा कोटराक्षी मसिमलिनमुखी मुक्तकेशी रुदन्ती नाहं तृप्ता वदन्ती जगदखिलभिदं ग्रासमेकं करोमि ।

हस्ताभ्यां धारयन्ती ज्वलदनलशिखासन्निभं पाशमुग्रं दन्तैर्जम्बूफलाभैः परिहस्तु भयं पातु मां भद्रकाली ॥

19. Samarpaṇam (समर्पणम्) :-  Take water in uttaraṇi (spoon) and by reciting the following śloka, offer the water to the earth.

guhyātiguhyagoptrī tvaṁ gṛhāṇāsmat-kṛtaṁ japam।
siddhirbhavatu me devi tvatprasādānmayi sthirā ॥

गुह्यातिगुह्यगोप्त्री त्वं गृहाणास्मात्कृतं जपम्।
सिद्धिर्भवतु मे देवि त्वत्प्रसादान्मयि स्तिरा॥

20. japānaṃtaraṃ mālāmantraṃ (जपानंतरं मालामन्त्रं) :-

Recite the below śloka and mantra, followed by placing the māla upon the top of the head and then place it back in the māla bag and conceal it. It should NOT be worn.

śubhaṃ kuruṣya me bhadre yaśo vīryaṃ ca dehime॥
