॥ śrīlakṣmyaṣṭottaraśatanāmāvali ॥ ( श्रीलक्ष्म्यष्टोत्तरशतनामावलि )
Prologue :- The hundred and eight names and attributes associated with the Śrī Mahā Lakṣmī Aṣṭottara Śatanāmāvali, also called Śrī Lakṣmī Aṣṭottara Śatanāmāvali, describe the attributes of the Divine Mother Śrī Mahā Lakṣmī extolling Her greatness and generosity in providing the sustenance, wealth and prosperity that we all desire. She bestows both material and spiritual wealth and abundance, and is therefore highly coveted and worshipped. These names are derived from the Śrī Lakṣmī Aṣṭottara Śatanāma Stotram, also called the Śrī Mahā Lakṣmī Aṣṭottara Śatanāma Stotram. One can recite the names thrice a day for a period of six months to obtain benefits. Reciting the same every Friday a hundred times for a year, is said to generate enormous wealth and prosperity that could last several lifetimes. The names themselves are derived from various scriptures such as the Bhagavad Purāṇā and the Vedas, where She is mentioned and extolled. Unstinted devotion and faith towards the Divine Mother is a definite pre-requisite. A mere recitation of the names may not generate the aforementioned benefits. It is best to fully understand the meanings and contemplate upon them. Doing so will also help in our spiritual ascension and will bring us closer to self-realization.
