Meaning- Let us meditate on the Divine Mother Rāja Mātaṅgi, who is seated on an emerald throne and is holding two talking parrots in Her lower hands, reciting to Her pleasure. She is dark blue hued and is also holding a stalk of sugarcane made into a bow and a lotus flower in Her upper arms. She is adorned with a crescent moon that is glittering on Her diadem. She is playing a Vīṇā (musical instrument) and is wearing a garland of white lotus flowers. She is also holding an aṅkuśa that can tame an elephant and a glittering pāśa, that can bind anything and anyone to Her. She is adorned in beautiful red clothes and decorated with ornaments all over Her body. She is in an exhilarated state and adorned with a dazzling mark on Her forehead.
The marks on Her forehead represent the vibrant ājñā cakra, the Vīṇā and the musical notes represent all the sound vibrations manifested in the universe, that can be used for activiating all the spiritual channels (nāḍī-s) in the body. The parrots are reciting the Vedas and all scriptures to Her listening pleasure. She is mantrini, the authority of all mantras manifested in the entire Creation.

Meaning-
The Sarasvatī bīja (seed) mantra aim̐ represents knowledge of all types. Śrī Rājā Mātaṅgi is also called the tantric Sarasvati, the Goddess of Knowledge, arts and sciences. Without gaining the proper knowledge, one cannot succeed in any task, be it material or spiritual. This bīja therefore is very crucial and the mantra itself gets its power starting with it.
The Mahāmāyā bīja (seed) mantra hrīm̐ represents the power of Creation, Preservation and Destruction. Elevation is society and high positions of power are also indicated. The power to gain, in the context of this main mantra, is knowledge that can be used for attaining any desires and ultimately gain liberation. Nothing else matters for the devotee of Rājā Mātaṅgi.
The Lakṣmī bīja (seed) mantra śrīm̐ represents wealth, prosperity, abundance and fertility. In the context of the mantra, it is for the fruition of the desire to self-realize and gain liberation.
The kāma bīja (seed) mantra klīm̐ represents the fulfillment of all desires, material and spiritual. In the context of this mantra, it is for spiritual desires.
The parā bīja (seed) mantra sauḥ represents liberation from all attachments and union with the Divine.
Salutations and oblations are offered to the Divine Mother Śrī Rāja Mātaṅgeśvarī, who is the authority to attract, charm, mesmerize, entertain and gain praise from anyone, irrespective of their stature, power, any gender, good, bad, animals, birds and all types of poisonous and dangerous creatures as well. She can attract persons of all dispositions and nature, residing in any dimension in the multi-dimensional multi-verse.
There is absolutely nothing that cannot be attracted by the use of this mantra.
All the bīja (seed) mantras are reversed at the end, to provide additional protection to the devotee as well as to speed up the fruition. This processs is also called saṃpuṭīkaraṇa and is often employed for high potent mantras.

Difference is due to the ṛṣi-s who conceived these mantras. Various traditions follow their own set of mantras, passed on by their respective guru mandala-s.

You may approach any Śrī Vidyā guru and request to get initiated into it. Please do this only if you are very serious about self-realization and are ready for a spiritual journey. It is definitely NOT for material gain. Most people do experience difficulties with it, as the rate of karmic burning goes up several notches. Ideally, this is for mature individuals who are very serious seekers of Truth and are willing to face any type of difficulties to discover It.

When the disciple is ready, the guru shows forth! So goes the saying. Before we look out for a guru, we also need to assess ourselves and self-check, to see if we are competent enough for initiation from a competent guru? It is similar to power transmission over copper wires. The gauge of the wire and it's quality is very important to handle high voltage and likewise, when we approach a guru for higher spiritual progress, we also need maturity, general understanding of spirituality and some desire to know the true purpose of living etc. Most of us approach gurus for material benefits, rituals, procedures etc to overcome our crises with the expectation of the onset of "good times", so we can progress materially and life a comfortable life. During all of this, we have the least desires to go spiritual and dig deeper on understanding why we are here and what's next etc. Going further, let us assume we are competent spiritual seekers and serious about sādhana. At this time, we may need to seek out a competent guru, who is compassionate, experienced and knowledgeable about sādhana. You may get more information about the qualities of a guru in this series of articles - https://www.manblunder.com/articlesview/guru-and-mantra-initiation and https://www.manblunder.com/articles/guru-disciple-relationship. If all options for finding a competent guru are exhausted and the desire tor sadhana is great, then one can self-initiate following the procedures mentioned in this article - https://www.manblunder.com/articlesview/self-initiation-of-mantras.

It is very difficult, but your best guide would be references from people you know and trust. As mentioned before, you may try the self-initiation method mentioned on this website and also documented in various books. Lord Dakṣiṇāmūrti is a form of Lord Śiva and also a prominent ṛṣi in Śrī Vidyā. You can follow the self-initiation method that describes seeking His grace for mantra sādhana.

Namaste Krishnaji, Can you please let me know which is the authentic Sri Matangi Gayatri Mantra from an authentic scriptural source? "Om Matangyai cha vidmahe ucchista chandalyaicha dhimahi tanno devi prachodayat" "Om shuka priyayai vidmahe sri kameshwaryai dhimahi tanno shyama prachodayat"

They may all be correct and I honestly have not seen them in any of the scriptural sources that I know of. The only Mātaṅgi Gāyatri mantra that I am aware of, is from Mantra Mahodadhi. It is below - aim̐ śukapriyāyai vidmahe । klīm̐ kāmeśvarīṃ dhīmahi । tannaḥ śyāmā pracodayāt ॥ ऐँ शुकप्रियायै विद्महे । क्लीँ कामेश्वरीं धीमहि । तन्नः श्यामा प्रचोदयात् ॥

Mere remembrance of this mantra grants all wishes, as per Mantra Mahodadhi. But of course, this applies to those who have performed Her mantra japa.

Namaskar Raviji, Can you please suggest an appropriate stotra of Devi RajMatangi for developing musical abilities and attractive voice. E.g. Shamala Navarathna Malika.

This mantra can be used. But we will post another mantra which is almost the same as this one. It is more widely used than this mantra. There are other variations also, which may also be published later on, if there is interest. Also, there are other Śyāmalā mantras which we may publish as well. We may hold off on publishing any articles for some time, after publishing the Śrī Rāja Śyāmala mantra today covering the 9th day/night of the navarātri.

Dear Guruji, Above mantra in Parashuram Kalpasutra is mentioned with an empty space 'Amuka' in place of 'sarva janam' me vashamanay swaha where any person's name can be placed ......my question is under which circumstances a name of a person can be placed in this mantra?

There are certain methods listed in Mantra Mahodadhi and other scriptures that can be followed to determine what would be a good fit. But generally nobody goes through all that and one is given what the concerned guru thinks is a best fit. The individual's interests and faith are also considered in the decision making.

Is there any dress code for Matangi / sumuki / Shyamala Devi Sadhana? Is it necessary to chant with rudraksha japa mala or can we chant with a counting machine? Can we use a single Matangi Devi image to all Matangi / sumuki / Shyamala Devi sadanas or we have to change image of goddess according to the dhyana of each mantra? Thank you.

Green clothing is suggested. You should follow the guidelines of your guru on all these matters, as their suggestions supersede whatever you read here and in other publications. The word of the guru is final in all tantra related matters. You can use the mālā of your liking. Rudrākṣa mālā is considered an all purpose mālā and can be used for chanting. A counter may be used in addition to a mālā to keep the number of mālā counts. For instance, if you complete the recitation 108 times on a 108 bead japa mālā, the counter can be adjusted to say 1. The counter can be adjusted depending on the number of mālā counts. Ultimately, if you perform 10 japa mālā counts, then your actual mantra count would be 10 x 108 = 1080. If you are using a japa mālā, consider consecrating it with the associated mālā mantra.

Namaste Krishna. A single misspelled letter in the Tantric Mantra renders it completely ineffective. This Mantra has 100 letters and not 101 letters. The correct one is "namo bhagavati rājamātaṅgeśvari". It is incorrect to say "namo bhagavati śrī rājamātaṅgeśvari" in this Mantra. The "śrī" must be removed.
