Śrī Vārāhī Aṣṭottaraśatanāmāvalī (श्री वाराही अष्टोत्तरशतनामावली) – Variation 2

Prologue – There are four variations of 108 attributes of Śrī Vārāhī that we are aware of. Each of the variations of the Aṣṭottara Śatanāmāvali (108 names/attributes) of Śrī Vārāhi is a treatise in itself, containing the very essence of the Śrī Vārāhi Sahasranāma. All the benefits that can be accrued through reciting the Sahasranāma, may also accrue through the Aṣṭottara Śatanāmāvali, if we can also meditate upon the meanings of each nāmā (attribute).

In general, the attributes are derived from many sources that have reference to the deity. This compilation is the 2^nd variation that we are publishing from our collection.

Śrī Vārāhī devi is the Śrī Vidyā form of Śrī Bagalāmukhī, the 8^th among the 10 Daśamahāvidyā goddesses. Śrī Bagalāmukhī is the goddess who immobilizes enemies, both internal and external. Likewise, from the nāmā-s, we see Her true form and splendor through Her various attributes. Worshipping Her majestic form and beauty, helps us in gaining not just what we seek, but also lets in on the greatest spiritual secrets and the revelation of our own true form, that is, of pure consciousness Itself. She is also Śrī Lakṣmī, the bestower of all wealth, material and spiritual. She is Śrī Mātā (Lalita) Herself and is everything that exists! In the Śrī Vidyā parlance, She is the commander of all armies of Śrī Lalita. She along with Śrī Rājā Mātaṅgī/Śyāmala, are the closest to Śrī Lalita and lead us to Her. In the human body, Śrī Śyāmala is the left nāḍi, Iḍa corresponding to the left nostril and the right side of the brain, indicating artistic and logical aspects and Śrī Vārāhi is the right nāḍi Piñgala, corresponding to the right nostril and the left part of the brain, representing action and all things physical. When the nāḍi-s are balanced, the Kuṇḍalini rises through the Suṣumṇa (spinal cord), energizing the cakras and ultimately revealing our true self.

My sincere gratitude to Shri Lorran who had gifted me two variations of the 108 attributes of Śrī Vārāhī, allowing me to make the decision of translating this variation that had been pending with me for a long time. The versions provided by him will be translated soon. It is our sincere prayer that all serious sādhakas and devotees of Śrī Vārāhī devi may find this document beneficial to their respective practices.

2	ॐ वामन्यै नमः	Om̐ Vāmanyai namaḥ	Salutations to the short statured Divine Mother. Her presence is everywhere and extends from the microcosm to the macrocosm. The bent serpent like Kuṇḍalinī at the base of our spine, is also signified in this attribute.
3	ॐ वामायै नमः	Om̐ Vāmāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is none other than Śakti, who is also the left (vāma) side of the Divine Lord Ardhanārīshvara, a form of Lord Śiva.
4	ॐ बगलायै नमः	Om̐ Bagalāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is none other than the Divine Mother Bagalāmukhī who calms all the sensory perceptions and paves the way for the Divine Mother Mātaṅgī, to reveal the knowledge of Her imperceptible form.

6	ॐ वसवे नमः	Om̐ Vasave namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who constitutes the Lords and the functions of all Vasus. She is also the Divine Mother Śyāmā, whose complexion resembles that of a dark emerald.
7	ॐ वैदेह्यै नमः	Om̐ Vaidehyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is incorporeal and beyond all Creation.
8	ॐ वीरसुवे नमः	Om̐ Vīrasuve namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is heroic and praiseworthy in all Her actions.
9	ॐ बालायै नमः	Om̐ Bālāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is also associated with the Divine Mother Bālā, the seed of the entire Creation. She is also one and the same as Śrī Bālā.
10	ॐ वरदायै नमः	Om̐ Varadāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is a great benefactor. She fulfills all the wishes of Her sincere devotees to the fullest extent.
11	ॐ विष्णुवल्लभायै नमः	Om̐ Viṣṇu-vallabhāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is the consort and power of the Preserver Lord Viṣṇu in the form of the boar faced avatar Lord Varāhā, who rescues the world from a deluge and is also the one who keeps the Earth in its orbit, as well as all other celestial bodies.

13	ॐ वसुधायै नमः	Om̐ Vasudhāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is worshipped as the Mother Earth. She is the One who protects life on Earth, prevents the land from a massive deluge and holds it steady to allow the denizens to live and prosper.
14	ॐ वश्यायै नमः	Om̐ Vaśyāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who can subjugate anyone and anything to submit to Her will. Invocation of the Divine Mother may help us attract and fulfill, all our cherished wishes and desires.
15	ॐ व्यत्यासायै नमः	Om̐ Vyatyāsāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who has the unique power of inverting fate and karma. Her benign grace can wipe out our misery in no time and grant immense happiness and contentment.
16	ॐ वञ्चिन्यै नमः	Om̐ Vañcinyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who has an overbearing effect and influence on anyone or anything to bring them to compliance.
17	ॐ बलायै नमः	Om̐ Balāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is immensely powerful and cannot be defeated. She is the commander-in-chief of Śrī Lalitā Devi̍'s army.
18	ॐ वसुन्धरायै नमः	Om̐ Vasundharāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who bears the Earth on Her tusks and supports it from the cosmic forces. Her protection leads to the presence of life supporting elements on Earth and its atmosphere.
19	ॐ वीतिहोत्रायै नमः	Om̐ Vītihotrāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother whose luster is compared to that of zillions of suns and One who is fervently worshipped by all celestials at all times.
20	ॐ वीतरागायै नमः	Om̐ Vītarāgāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is dispassionate and free from all emotions. She can only be reached through unstinted devotion and faith accompanied by a complete surrender unto Her.
21	ॐ विहायस्यै नमः	Om̐ Vihāyasyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is beyond the entire Creation and is limitless. She bears the Creation within Herself.
22	ॐ गर्वायै नमः	Om̐ Garvāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who guards the entire Creation and enforces Her discipline when things get out of hand.
23	ॐ घनप्रियायै नमः	Om̐ Ghana-priyāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is massive and enormous by all proportions, as She bears the entire Creation and constitutes it as well.
24	ॐ काम्यायै नमः	Om̐ Kāmyāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who brings fruition to all activities.
25	ॐ कमलायै नमः	Om̐ Kamalāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is seated upon a blossoming lotus. The lotus is indicative of an expanding consciousness.
26	ॐ काञ्चन्यै नमः	Om̐ Kāñcanyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is the bestower of gold, wealth and all types of prosperity.
27	ॐ रमायै नमः	Om̐ Ramāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who bestows immense wealth, auspiciousness and prosperity. She is Mahālakṣmī Herself.
28	ॐ धूम्रायै नमः	Om̐ Dhūmrāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is none other than the Divine Mother Dhūmāvati, who smokes away all karmas and denotes the existence of the consciousness beyond form.
29	ॐ कपालिन्यै नमः	Om̐ Kapālinyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who holds a skull cup in Her arms. She is none other than the Divine Mother Kālī. The skull cup denotes an empty mind devoid of all emotions, thoughts and desires. When everything is negated what remains is pure consciousness and that is Brahman.

31	ॐ कुरुकुल्लायै नमः	Om̐ Kurukullāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is none other than the Divine Mother Tārā as Kurukullā, the red complexioned Divine Mother, denoting passion and Her worship through the Kaula tradition.
32	ॐ कलावत्यै नमः	Om̐ Kalāvatyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is adorned with a crescent moon and is associated with the nityā deities who align with the lunar phases of the moon. She is also the connoisseur of all arts and is none other than Śrī Śyāmalā devi Herself.
33	ॐ याम्यायै नमः	Om̐ Yāmyāyai namaḥ	Saluations to the Divine Mother who is also the power/śakti of Lord Yama, the enforcer of Dharma and the ruler of all hellish realms. No one remains unpunished and all are subject to face their bad karmas and their associated punishments. From a mātṛikā perspective, She rules the Southern direction associated with Lord Yama as a Dikpālaka.
34	ॐ आग्नेयै नमः	Om̐ Āgneyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is also very pleased by the complete surrender of Her devotees and hence is equated with svāhā. Her fiery temperament aligns Her with the fire Lord Agni. She is also associated with the South-Eastern direction of Lord Agni.
35	ॐ धरायै नमः	Om̐ Dharāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is none other than the Mother Earth Bhūdevī. She bears and supports us in all our endeavors. She is always there when we need Her.
36	ॐ धन्यायै नमः	Om̐ Dhanyāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who ushers auspiciousness upon Her devotees.
37	ॐ धर्मिण्यै नमः	Om̐ Dharmiṇyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who establishes order and justice and protects all those who are law abiding and virtuous.
38	ॐ ध्यायिन्यै नमः	Om̐ Dhyāyinyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is always in a spiritually ecstatic and blissful state as Śrī Unmatta Bhairavi.
39	ॐ ध्रुवायै नमः	Om̐ Dhruvāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is always permanent and eternal. She remains unchanged and is ever effective.
40	ॐ धृत्यै नमः	Om̐ Dhṛtyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who supports the entire Creation and maintains order. She never lets down Her sincere devotees who surrender unto Her.
41	ॐ लक्ष्म्यै नमः	Om̐ Lakṣmyai namaḥ	Saluations to the Divine Mother who is none other than the Divine Mother Mahālakṣmī, who bestows fortune, auspiciousness and brings to fruition all desires.
42	ॐ जयायै नमः	Om̐ Jayāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who brings victory in all pursuits and actions.
43	ॐ तुष्ट्यै नमः	Om̐ Tuṣṭyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who grants satisfaction and contentment.
44	ॐ शक्त्यै नमः	Om̐ Śaktyai namaḥ	Salutations to the most powerful Divine Mother who is capable of accomplishing any task.
45	ॐ मेधायै नमः	Om̐ Medhāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is extremely prudent and wise. She is aware of everything and acts at the most appropriate time and decisively.
46	ॐ तपस्विन्यै नमः	Om̐ Tapasvinyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is extremely pious and austere.
47	ॐ वेधायै नमः	Om̐ Vedhāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who breaks down all barriers and penetrates through thick and thin to fulfill the wishes of Her sincere devotees.
48	ॐ जयायै नमः	Om̐ Jayāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who wins in all situations.

She is the primordial force that is invoked by the Divine Mother Svāhā to enable Her to carry forward all our fire oblations to the Divinity and all our ancestors and loved ones who have moved on to other realms.
52	ॐ शान्त्यै नमः	Om̐ Śāntyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who remains unperturbed and calm.
53	ॐ दमायै नमः	Om̐ Damāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother has the power to control and subdue anyone or anything in existence.
54	ॐ रक्तायै नमः	Om̐ Raktāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who appears as red in complexion and is very passionate, representing the rajasic tattva. She is none other than the Divine Mother Lalita Herself.
55	ॐ लज्जायै नमः	Om̐ Lajjāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is shy and modest. She veils Herself as the embodiment of the Secret of the Universe. Her true essence as pure consciousness is imperceptible and is not comprehendible.
56	ॐ मत्त्यै नमः	Om̐ Mattyai namaḥ	Salutations to the spiritually intoxicated Śrī Unmatta Bhairavī.
57	ॐ स्मृत्यै नमः	Om̐ Smṛtyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is remembered at all times by Her sincere devotees.
58	ॐ निद्रायै नमः	Om̐ Nidrāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who puts at rest all our inhibitions and doubts about Her divine grace that uplifts us from all miseries and unfortunate happenings.
59	ॐ तन्त्रायै नमः	Om̐ Tantrāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is propitiated by means of tantric rituals and She Herself represents all the tantras and pervades in them.
60	ॐ गौर्यै नमः	Om̐ Gauryai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is none other than the dazzling pale complexioned devout Śrī Gaurī, the consort of Lord Rudra.
61	ॐ शिवायै नमः	Om̐ Śivāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is none that Śakti, the consort of Śiva. Śakti is the expression of Śiva, the supreme consciousness.
62	ॐ स्वधायै नमः	Om̐ Svadhāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is also manifested in the form of the Divine Mother Svadhā, the consort of Pitṛ and the carrier of the oblations offered to all our ancestors.
63	ॐ चण्ड्यै नमः	Om̐ Caṇḍyai namaḥ	Salutations to the extremely wrathful and vengeful Divine Mother Caṇḍī, who eliminated the daityas Caṇḍa and Muṇḍa, who represent a violent and vengeful mindset. The Divine Mother Durga is conferred with the epithet Caṇḍī for Her ability to remove these tendencies within us and transform us into better persons for a spiritual upheaval.

65	ॐ अभयायै नमः	Om̐ Abhayāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who grace provides us complete protection from all enemies, internal and external, as well as from all life threatening or altering incidents and events at all times. The Abhaya mudra that She displays provides us that assurance that She is there to protect us from all impending dangers and losses.
66	ॐ भीमायै नमः	Om̐ Bhīmāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who has a massive form when She manifests in Her boar faced appearance as Śrī Mahāvārāhī.
67	ॐ भाषायै नमः	Om̐ Bhāṣāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who regulates our speech and reorients us towards higher spiritual purposes. She is the 8th Mahāvidyā Śrī Bagalāmukhī.
68	ॐ भामायै नमः	Om̐ Bhāmāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is very passionate in Her disposition. She is none than Śrī Lalitā.
69	ॐ भयानकायै नमः	Om̐ Bhayānakāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is extremely fearsome in Her appearance and crushes all opposition. She will drive away all evil disturbances away from the devotees and rescues them at all times.
70	ॐ भूधरायै नमः	Om̐ Bhū-dharāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is none other than the pious Śrī Pārvatī Devī, the consort of Rudra and daughter of the mountain king Himavat.
71	ॐ भयापहायै नमः	Om̐ Bhay-āpahāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who allays all our fears and provides protection in all types of scenarios.
72	ॐ भीरवे नमः	Om̐ Bhīrave namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who creates great fear of defeat and annihilation in the minds and hearts of all enemies, both internal and external.
73	ॐ भैरव्यै नमः	Om̐ Bhairavyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is none other than the 5th Mahāvidyā Śrī Tripura Bhairavī, who represents all the triads present in the Creation.
74	ॐ भयङ्करायै नमः	Om̐ Bhayaṅkarāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is terrific in Her appearance and can scare away all the bad influences from approaching Her devotees.
75	ॐ पट्ट्यै नमः	Om̐ Paṭṭyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is adorned with a crescent moon as a diadem on Her crown and is associated with all the nityā deities who align with the lunar phases of the moon.
76	ॐ घुर्घुरायै नमः	Om̐ Ghurghurāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is accompanied by a snorting noise of a boar. She digs through the deepest of karmas and frees us completely.
77	ॐ घोषणायै नमः	Om̐ Ghoṣaṇāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who makes a loud and clear proclamation of Her protection and warns all enemies, internal and external of Her prowess.
78	ॐ घोरायै नमः	Om̐ Ghorāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is extremely fearsome in Her appearance and crushes all opposition. She will drive away all evil disturbances away from the devotees and rescues them at all times.
79	ॐ घोषिण्यै नमः	Om̐ Ghoṣiṇyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is always accompanied by a retinue of other boar faced yoginis creating a very loud and extremely scary noises.
80	ॐ घोषसंयुतायै नमः	Om̐ Ghoṣa-saṃyutāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is also manifested in the form of the Śabda Brahman, the primordial sound and the cause of all wavelengths and frequencies of the alphabet mātṛikā śaktīs.
81	ॐ घनायै नमः	Om̐ Ghanāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother whose appearance resembles that of large dark clouds. The rain showering dark clouds are alluded to Her divine grace upon Her sincere devotees.
82	ॐ अघनायै नमः	Om̐ Aghanāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother whose appearance resembles that of clear clouds. The analogy is that She will rid us of all concerns and fears and our path to success is never under a cloud!
83	ॐ घर्घरायै नमः	Om̐ Ghargharāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who holds a bell in Her arms in one of Her manifestations. The bell signifies the wavelengths and frequencies of all sound vibrations in the entire Creation.
84	ॐ घोणयुक्तायै नमः	Om̐ Ghoṇa-yuktāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the boar faced One who is the consort of Lord Varāha, an Avatar of Lord Viṣṇu. The metaphor of a boar with a raised snout, shows Her eager desire to dig very deep to extricate the devotee fully buried in deep karma, as well to hold the devotee away from all troubled waters.

86	ॐ पूर्वायै नमः	Om̐ Pūrvāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is posited in the Eastern Direction as the governess mātṛikā śakti Brāhmī, the power of Creation.
87	ॐ आग्नेयै नमः	Om̐ Āgneyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is posited in the South-Eastern Direction as the governess mātṛikā śakti Māheśvarī, the power of sustenance.

101	ॐ बृहदन्धकारायै नमः	Om̐ Bṛhad-andhakārāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is the cause of all darkness. She is the very cause and effect of the dark matter prevalent in the entire Creation.
102	ॐ अर्कगायै नमः	Om̐ Arkagāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is the cause of all light and brilliance prevalent in the entire Creation.
103	ॐ स्वर्गगायै नमः	Om̐ Svargagāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who represents all the higher realms of existence prevalent in the entire Creation.
104	ॐ पातालगायै नमः	Om̐ Pātālagāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who represents all the lower realms of existence prevalent in the entire Creation.
105	ॐ भूमिगायै नमः	Om̐ Bhūmigāyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother who is the very Earth that we live upon and cherish.
106	ॐ ऐँ नमः	Om̐ Aim̐ namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother manifested in the Śrī Sarasvatī bīja representing the wealth of all knowledge prevalent in the entire Creation.
107	ॐ श्रियै नमः	Om̐ Śriyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother manifested in the Śrī Mahālakṣmī bīja representing the material and spiritual wealth of the entire Creation.
108	ॐ वाराही देव्यै नमः	Om̐ Vārāhī devyai namaḥ	Salutations to the Divine Mother Śrī Vārāhī Devī, the protector and grantor of all success, prosperity, wealth and happiness.
