Sumukhī athavā mātaṅgī kavacam ( सुमुखी अथवा मातङ्गीकवचम् )
Prologue :- Śrī Mātaṅgī Kavacam (armor) is an essential part of worshipping and obtaining Her divine grace and is an addendum to the mantra japa. It is very effective in obtaining success in all undertakings and grants many benefits, if one were to recite it 1008 times and also perform the homa fire ritual with a hundred and eight (108) recitations. Childless couples, or those looking to beget more children, can benefit from this kavacam. She is also very mysterious in Her manifestation as one of the ten wisdom goddesses called the Daśa-mahā-vidyā-s and is associated with all the supernatural magical powers called siddhis. One may even obtain these powers as per this kavacam and is therefore considered to be very secretive and should not be revealed to one and all. There is also a curse that one who reveals it to the undeserving, may also lose all his/her powers obtained through Her worship. There are no restrictions in reciting this kavacam and no strict procedures to follow during the recitation period either. Those who are attracted strongly towards the Divine Mother Śrī Mātaṅgī and also initiated into any of Her mantras, may certainly recite and gain the benefits of this kavacam. She is Ucchiṣṭa, meaning “ritually impure” and therefore has very few rituals associated with Her. There are no pre-requisites or qualifications required, in order to seek Her grace. All that She requires from the devotee is pure devotion and nothing else!
The kavacam uses the syllables of the mantras of Śrī Mātaṅgī’s aspects, Sumukhī and Jyeṣṭha Mātaṅgī. It is for this reason, it is considered very effective for the mantra japa and sādhana (worship). It protects the devotees (sādhakās) reciting these mantras as well as, opens up their cakras and other mental faculties, facilitating a deep spiritual awakening and knowledge of the mystical realms.
śrīgaṇeśāya namaḥ ।
श्रीगणेशाय नमः ।
Salutations to Lord Gaṇeśa. May He bless us and reveal the secrets of the kavacam and grant us all the benefits.

Śrī Pārvati (Devi) spoke – Oh Lord of all Creation, Oh Mahādeva, You are the very cause of the manifestation of the entire Creation, it’s Sustenance and Destruction. Oh Dear Lord, please shower your grace and affection towards me and kindly narrate the revered Śrī Mātaṅgī Kavacam.

अनया सदृशी विद्या न भूता न भविष्यति ॥ ३ ॥
Oh Dear Devi, this is my pledge to you. Let me throw some light on this kavacam and in general about Śrī Mātaṅgī. There is no Vidyā (knowledge bestowing goddess) who matches up to, or can rival Śrī Mātaṅgī. Neither in the past, nor in the future, will there by anyone to rival Her greatness. This is the plain Truth.
Dhyānam (ध्यानम्) :-

एवं ध्यात्वा महादेवीं पठेत्कवचमुत्तमम् ॥ ४ ॥
She is seated on a corpse, wearing red clothes. She is very youthful and capable of bestowing all the magical powers called siddhis. Dear Devi, One can obtain all the benefits of worshipping Śrī Mātaṅgī, by meditation upon Her and reciting this highly coveted and supreme kavacam.

I wanted to know whether we can also start chanting Sumukhi mantra along with kavacham also please let us know how are matangi devi and ucchishta ganapati related to each other as in both the Mantras ucchishta and Pisa chini are used also they don't have any regulation for chanting the Mantras. Please provide us the relation between both forms of worship Thanks and Regards Krishnakant

The Divine Mother Sumukhi mantra can be recited with the kavacam. I would suggest getting an initiation for the mantra or at least following all the procedures for self-initiation, in the event a suitable guru is not available. The consort of Lord Ucchiṣṭa Gaṇapati is Hastipiśāci alias Ucchiṣṭa Caṇḍālinī, also called as Sumukhi, the pleasing one. Sumukhi Devi is an aspect of the Divine Mother Mātaṅgī. When Lord Ucchiṣṭa Gaṇapati is depicted as blue in color, He is paired with Nīlasarasvati, an aspect of Tārā Devi. It is to be noted that in all these aspects, Lord Ucchiṣṭa Gaṇapati is seen as the God-head and equated with Lord Śiva. The worship of both Sumukhi Devi and Lord Ucchiṣṭa Gaṇapati have fewer rituals and can fructify with utmost devotion alone.

If you are reciting only once per sitting, follow the entire document. If you intend to recite many times per sitting, then follow from the beginning to the kavacamārambham section, then repeat the section upto phalaśruti as many times as you wish to recite, then recite the entire phalaśruti section once.

In the Phalasruthi , it saying that to obtain benefits partially eaten food can be presented as a sacrificial offering to the Divine Mother on Saturdays and Tuesdays. 1) partially eaten food presented infront of Sumukhi Devi's Photo or do I need to put in fire ritual / homa ? 2) is it ok to do in Pooja room. Pooja room contain yantras, god/ goddess pictures and other sacred books like Ramayan bagavatham extra. So is there any problem, if I presented partially eaten food infront of Sumukhi Devi photo and In fire ritual ? Kindly reply Thankyou Guruji

1. Normally, we offer food as prasād/naivedya/offering to the deities, complete the pūja and then partake it. In the case of Sumukhi devi, you can do the reverse of first separating a portion of the food for ourselves and one part for the Devi. Eat the portion designated for ourselves and after consuming food, offer the other designated portion to the Devi and complete the pūja. You may also offer a portion of the same in the homa/fire ritual, if you're performing it. 2. This should be done, preferably in the pūja room only. You may also offer food that has not been consumed by anyone that would normally be offered to the deities, to all the other deities in the room. There is no issue in doing this. If you are not comfortable, just follow the regular process and it will be accepted by Devi. She does not insist that we offer partaken food. It is only done to please Her in this manner.

At the end of phalashruthi it says, one must give an offering sacred sacrifice, only then the japam gets fulfilled. Plz clarifybit this sacred offering is mandatory? Otherwise the japam what we chant to please Devi doesn't give results? It would be really helpful if someone clarfiy this query.

Offer any food grains or any other food offerings of your choice and give that away to birds and/or animals.
