If you know the meaning, then you can recite kavacham. Otherwise, simply recite moolamantra alone. Theoretically speaking, you have to perform nyasa for moolamantra japa. In the present day busy world, it is enough to recite the moolamantra, however with intent concentration.

It is not advisable for you to go to Matangi when you are with Shodashi, which is the ultimate mantra. Please check this with your Guru.

There is no such prescription. If you are talking about mantra siddhi, you have to perform purascharana. For example, if you recite 100,000 japas, 10% of 100,000 i.e. 10,000 oblations should be made and 1000 times tarpana and 100 times mantra bath and finally you have to feed 10 Vedic Scholars. Kavacha-s will not work like moola mantras. Kavaccha means protection. It will only protect from any possible misfortunes, subject to his karmic account.

Hello Respected Ravi Uncle,
I loved your blog. Please send me the Matangi kavachm and sahasranamam Sanskrit or hinidi or kannada docs. to recite.
Does the mantras of matangi need to be recited after gurubhodhan or just remind guru in mind and start chanting. ?
Please tell me the procedure like which direction or simply infront of god ?
Does nyas is mandatory to recite or can we skip ?
Before and after procedures ?
Please respond.
Regards,
Ranjini Joshi

Namaste Ravi ji
With reference to version 5 of matangi mantra i want to say that it is of jyeshtha matangi or Uchhista chandalini. If we exclude om its a 19 letter mantra and if we add हूं(hoom) to this 19 lettered mantra another mantra of jyeshtha matangi is formed. As per the texts i have it is said that according to tantrasaar, tantradeepani and mantra devprakashini there is no need to perform any nyasa and can be chanted at anytime,no need to consider auspicious tithi or nakshatra and no strict rules are laid in her sadhana as jyeshtha matangi. And it is said that it has to be chanted after having food but without rinsing the mouth and its said that she is offered leftover food as she's the uchhistha chandalini form. Being a siddha vidya purashcharan is not needed and no written documentation is there about how much it is to be chanted(as per the books i have) but 18000 or 1008 times it should be chanted with a pure and concentrated mind and homa should be done.
Her dhyan mantra is same as of sumukhi matangi:
Shavopari samaasinaam raktambar parichhadaam. Raktalankaar sanyuktaam gunjaahaar vibhusitaam. Sodshaabda ch yuvatim pinonnat payodharaam. Kapaal kartrika hastaam parjyotih swaroopinim.
The symbolism of this form is esoteric and deep and the sadhak should understand what this form wants to convey on a deeper spiritual level and then should proceed with the sadhana,as should be the case with every worship.

Dear Raviji,
Matangi interested mantra, which is contained in the book of the Sri Chakra:
om aiṁ hrīṁ śrīṁ hasanti hasitālāpe mātaṅgi paricārike mama
bhayavighnāpadāṁ nāśaṁ kuru kuru ṭhaḥ ṭhaḥ ṭhaḥ hūṁ phaṭ svāhā.
This mantra is different from versions 5 Matangi, who is here on the site.
Why is that? And how can we apply this mantra not only for the puja?
For work with the personal problems: removal of obstacles and other.
My English is not very good. Sorry.
Thank You.

Both are correct
1. सर्वजनवशङ्करि sarvajanavaśaṅkari
2. सर्वजनवशंकरि sarvajanavaśaṁkari
In some of the fonts, ङ ṅ does not appear properly and hence ṁ is used. It does not alter the mantra in any way.

Sir then why it is pronounced as only namah when it comes to 'om namah shivay'? What makes this difference? And 1 more query....regarding mantra siddhi , is it necessary that one should worship the deity with peedapooja ,yantra pooja, ayudhapooja, etc or can one perform a simple pooja and start the mantra japa avoiding the complicated rituals? I dont know any peedapooja and yantra pooja so am i eligible to perform a purascharan?

नमः + शिवाय namaḥ + śivāya - this is the combination of two words. When they are joined together to form of a single word, 'a' of 'ha' goes away leading to 'namahshivaaya' instead of "namahashivaaya'.
If you are able to do all these by strong mental visualization, these pujas are not necessary. Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita that it is enough to offer Him a leaf, one flower and a little water. It is the Bhakti that matters and not the rituals.

When recited as a regular mantra japa, any tantric mantra should be recited with the appropriate nyāsa-s, viniyoga dhyāna etc. As part of a higher mantra japa, the associated aṅga devata mantras can be recited immediately after the main mantra, as a 1/10th japa. For example, you may recite the main Mātaṅgi devi mantra 108 times (with all the related mantra japa procedures) and immediately 10 recitations of Sumukhi dev. If you are reciting 10 mālas of Mātaṅgi devi, you can recite 1 māla of Sumukhi devi. This should be done before you close out the mantra japa by chanting the hṛdayādi nyāsa etc. The aṅga mantra japa should be seen as a separate step to be performed AFTER the main mantra japa and before closing the japa samarpaṇam.

Traditionally, mantras were only known and procured through gurus and has become customary to learn from such sources. Also, clarifications can be sought, if the mantras are obtained from a well versed guru. Only in cases where a suitable guru cannot be found, then the self-initiation procedures may be undertaken and the mantra recited. Please do not stop reciting, just because you are unable to find a guru. The Divine Mother will help you find a guru when the time is right. Ultimately, She Herself becomes the Guru.

If you are initiated into a mantra already stick with that and practicing mantras will not given required results, it often leads to confusion as you will not know which god to pray when required. One mantra and one deity is usually the best option

What has been provided here is correct and referenced in many tantric scriptures. Sometimes there can be slight variations based on the tradition followed by one's guru. You are advised to follow the guru given mantra and perform the japa as directed by your guru.

In the Sumukhi mantra, what is the meaning of addressing Śrī Mātaṅgi as a piśācini? I have the translation of piśāca from Sanskrit as a flesh-eating demon, etc.

Amarakośa, a Sanskrit Thesaurus describes different types of piśāca-s and one of the higher dimensional beings are also classified under the same genre. The word 'piśāca' can also mean 'fond of ...', meaning each type of piśāca can be fond of something specific and this is generally assigned to the Yoginis, who inherently are considered very dangerous to approach directly and mostly feared for their wrath, but when approached as part of a higher deity worship, such as Śrīvidyā, Kālī or any other Daśamahāvidyā sādhana, then the same Yoginis such as Ḍākinī, Yākinī etc, will provide magical siddhis and fulfill all types of desires very quickly. This is also one of the reasons why they're always in the Nyāsās of these deities, specifically the six fold Ṣoḍhā nyāsā-s.

Hello Guruji-s Ravi and Krishna, could you please bring some light on this ashtakshara Matangi mantra कामिनी रञ्जिनी स्वाहा kāminī rañjinī svāhā? It's famous among people on the internet, but practically there are no mentions in traditional sources, except Meru-tantra, the only one I have found. This mantra found amazingly effective for samyama purpose, but the fragment of sadhana from tantra, that I have tried to translate says that it is sakama or abhichara, for mohana kriya. Can I continue to use it just in spiritual sense or will that be wrong? Devata of mantra noted as Sarvasammohini, and rishi - Sammohana.
