This is more to do with our mind, consciousness and breath. First slow down your breathing rate. Then sit straight and relax your body. Fix your consciousness where you want to fix your dharana. If possible visualize as if you are breathing and breathing out from that point, such as heart chakra or sahasrara. Over a period of time, you will be able to fix your concentration on these points. When you are able fix your concentration, you can visualize your Ishta Devata.

Namaste Raviji, I would like some clarification about 'Dharana' which I read in an article published on the website of Sri Ramana Maharishi. According to the instructions given there one should fix the mind on the Hridaya or Brahmarandra while conceiving of one’s personal deity in the form of a flame of light shining there. What is meant by fixing one's attention on a certain spot? How to go about this? I tried just closing my eyes and visualizing this but made no progress, so I'm not sure if I am doing this correctly. Is there a technique to be used to achieve this? Your guidance will be much appreciated. Thank you very much. Anita

There is another book called Siddha Vidya Rahasya by Shri Ramesh Chandra Mishra, which has this information. It's in Sankrit and Hindi. I have not read it, so I'm not very sure of the contents.

There is one version of this mantra in the book called Srividya Maharnava by Gyanendra Saraswati. There could be references in other books as well. We will list whatever we can find.

Thank you sir, I keep dreaming about Parashodashi mantra and now really want to know the correct version. There are two versions of the Parashodashi mantra, one from the Hayagriva Sampradaya and the other from the Dakshinamurthi Sampradaya. Can you share which book you have this version of Parasodashi mantra? Thank you for your help.

From samphutikarana point of view, what you say is correct. But in the mantra books I have, the one given here only is given. There may be several versions of Parashodashi mantra.

As long as you practice as per the article, nothing will cause any harm.
