Meaning:- Salutations to Lord Śanaiścara, who is dark complexioned, adorned in dark clothes and smeared with dark unguents, seated in the cross-legged Padmāsana posture and bearing a spear to punish the wrong-doers. He is shining forth with the luster of a dark blue sapphire. He is also adorned with dark shining bracelets on His upper arms, a splendid crown on His head, displaying a boon gesture with the Vara mudra and mounted on top of a vulture, which serves as His vehicle of conveyance. He appears with a majestic dark luster reflected from His ornaments. Salutations to this great Lord, whose glory is unmatched.

The vulture signifies the eagerness of Lord Śani in punishing the wrong-doers and those afflicted by bad karmas and an unfortunate placement of Saturn in their horoscope or during His transit, also called sade-sati. Due to the slow movement of Saturn, the long enduring torture bestowed by Śani deva, becomes unbearable for many.
