The āvaraṇa deities associated with śrī ucchiṣṭa gaṇapati and their associated meaning and significance is noted below.

Represents the power associated with the head of śrī ucchiṣṭa gaṇapati, representing the unlimited spiritual wealth gained from His worship.

śikhā śakti

शिखा शक्ति

Represents the opposite side of the ājña cakra. The power associated with this point, awakens the higher intellectual faculties in the mind.

kavaca śakti

कवच शक्ति

Represents the protection offered by the worship of śrī ucchiṣṭa gaṇapati.

5

netratraya śakti

नेत्रत्रय शक्ति

Represents the power to see through the māyā or virtual reality and realize one’s true self and it’s identification with the universal Self.

astra śakti

अस्त्र शक्ति

Represents the weapons or siddhis one may accrue through the sādhana of śrī ucchiṣṭa gaṇapati.

brāhmī

ब्राह्मी

The power associated with creation or Brahma.

māheśvarī

माहेश्वरी

The destructive/transformative power associated with Rudra.

kaumārī

कौमारी

The power associated with victory or Kumāra.

10

vaiṣṇavī

वैष्णवी

The preservative power associated with Viṣṇu.

11

vārāhī

वाराही

The commander of all armies of śrī lalita. She represents a fierce protective force and removes all impediments for the sādhana.

indrāṇī

इन्द्राणी

The power associated with prosperity and material riches.

13

cāmuṇḍī

चामुण्डी

The power that grants fearlessness in the sādhaka. She is in the form of Kāli.

mahālakṣmī

महालक्ष्मी

The power associated with all wealth, material and spiritual.

15

vakratuṇḍa

वक्रतुण्ड

The Lord with the curved tusk, signifying that He straightens those following a crooked path and rescues the misguided ones also.

16

ekadaṃṣṭra

एकदंष्ट्र

The one tusked Lord signifying the oneness of all reality – advaita.

17

laṃbodara

लंबोदर

The Lord with a large belly, signifying the entire Brahmāṇḍa.

18

vikaṭa

विकट

The terrible form that shakes away all ignorance and leads us straight to mokṣa or self-realization and liberation.

dhūmravarṇa

धूम्रवर्ण

The one who resembles ash. This form represents the Earth and the sky and that He sees the entire creation and interacts with it.

20

vighna

विघ्न

The destroyer of all obstacles.

21

gajānana

गजानन

The one who supports the universe. Literally, this name indicates the elephant faced one.

22

vināyaka

विनायक

The one who leads and eliminates all obstacles, material or spiritual.

gaṇapati

गणपति

The leader of the gaṇas or the subtlest of energies causing karmas.

हस्तिदन्त

The ivory tusked one. Signifying that He is the most valuable possession that can ever exist.

Presiding deity of East- bestows wealth and
happiness.

अग्नि

Presiding deity of South East – bestows a lustrous body and good
fortune.

यम

Presiding deity of South- embodiment of Dharma. Bestows
good results for righteous actions

निरृति

Presiding deity of South west. Meditated upon, he bestows freedom from enemies.

varuṇa

वरुण

Presiding deity of the West. He
creates rain and makes trees and plants grow and makes people happy.

vāyu

वायु

Presiding deity of the North West – bestows longevity and
strength.

31

kubera

कुबेर

Presiding deity of North – bestows happiness and wealth.

32

īśāna

ईशान

Presiding deity of North East – bestows spiritual knowledge leading to
liberation (mokṣa).

brahma

ब्रह्म

Presiding deity of the vertical up direction – bestows all boons and liberates us.

ananta

अनन्त

Presiding deity of the vertical down direction – liberates us from all attachments.

vajra

वज्र

A thunder causing diamond like super weapon, that can create great enlightenment.

A spear like fire causing super weapon that can ignite the kuṇḍalini.

दण्ड

A stick like super weapon that punishes.

khaḍga

खड्ग

A sword like super weapon that can cut through all type of karma and ego.

pāśa

पाश

A rope like super weapon that can pull all souls.

aṅkuśa

अङ्कुश

A goad like super weapon that can cause karmas to punish the error prone.

gada

A mace like super weapon that can smash all karmic barriers.

triśūla

A trident like super weapon representing all the triads of existence.

A lotus like super weapon representing supreme bliss.

A discus like super weapon representing breaking of all bonds that cause suffering.
